The Factions of Bluemoon

Actually, that's a myth, Marvin, a myth borne out of the increasing use of the internet and it's anonimity.

"THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE IS A GROWING TIDE OF NEGATIVITY AROUND THIS CLUB. IT IS CREEPING INTO EVERY AREA - THE MEDIA, THE BOARD, SUPPORTERS AND EVEN PLAYERS. I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT CITY FANS HAVE SUFFERED MORE THAN MOST IN RECENT YEARS, BUT IT IS JUST TOO EASY TO SLAG OFF EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING.

I'M AFRAID THAT OUR SUPPORTERS ARE BEGINNING TO WALLOW IN CITY'S MISFORTUNE. THEY ARE GETTING INTO A PERMANENTLY PESSIMISTIC STATE OF MIND. BUT THERE IS SIMPLY NO EXCUSE FOR SINGLING OUT INDIVIDUALS FOR ABUSE WHEN THEY ARE ALL TRYING THEIR BEST FOR THE CLUB...IT IS EASY TO SAY THAT ALL SUPPORTERS SHOULD CRITICISE THEIR TEAM, BUT WHY SHOULD THEY? MARK MY WORDS, IF THE DOOM MERCHANTS BECOME THE MAJORITY AT CITY THEN WE ARE FINISHED."

Willie Donnachie, our Assistant Manager, right in the middle of that season.

Spot on DD.

I too am perplexed at all these nostalgia freaks hankering after the good old days when City fans got behind the team, and never moaned.

People like Marvin frequently spout such nonsense. Were you there? Did you ever go to the away games? I was there in 1999 and we moaned like fuck almost all the way through it.

At York there was almost a pitch invasion as fans attempted to get at players Royle Out chants could be heard all the way down Bootham Crescent after the game.

City fans have always moaned. And they always will moan. The Main Stand was famous for being host to the Maine Road Moaners... and that was during 1968 when we won the Championship!

Moaning is an integral part of the English game... So why shouldn'yt we moan...AS WILL EVERY OTHER CLUBS' FANS IN THE COUNTRY. NOW. IN THE PAST. IN THE FUTURE.

It's been a part of football since football began. Only geeks who call it soccer think otherwise.

And Marvin, if you hate all the negativity... what the fuck are you doing coming on Bluemoon!

As I posted on the thread based on Willie D's quote, that season is now looked back on by some as one big laugh and we were destined to get out of that awful division. It wasn't a laugh, it was fucking horrible for the large majority of it. I'm repeating myself, I apologise, but anyone who went to those games will have their tale of the point IT happened...they hit rock bottom. Mine was at Darlo in the FA Cup which was the game which spawned Willie's quotes but everyone will have their own horror stories. It was a fucking dreadful season which was almost the end of us as a club, don't ever forget that.

Anyway, if we didn't moan what the fuck do we talk about?

My rock bottom was undoubtedly when the Gillingham 2nd went in.

It's the only time I have ever thought "I've had enough of this club".

When it went in, the only thing I could think of was having to play in the 1st Round of the FA Cup and the Auto Fucking Windscreens Trophy or whatever it was called again. Then I looked at my dad and very nearly burst into tears. I've never seen him so low....and I don't just mean in football I mean in fucking life!!!!!!

only one Dave, i've had quite a few. I've felt like that after most of the ridiculous cup upsets we've managed to "achieve". But one of the worst for me was the 5-0 drubbing off the rags, I don't care what anyone says Simon Tracey took a bung that match as i've NEVER seen a keeper push so many shots back into play, they weren't even good shots. A good keeper would have gathered 'em, a half decent keeper would have saved a few and knocked a couple around the post, a bad keeper would have saved one or two pushed a couple around the post and one back into play. A keeper that has took a back-hander pushes them ALL back into play!

I slumped down in my seat, devastated, head in hands, not even watching the game.
My Mum and Dad were both there - it was my Mum's first ever game.
My Mum said "aww, never mind" or something and ruffled my hair.
I just said "It never happens for us, Mum, never. it's always like this" and filled up with tears a bit. And genuinely thought "That's it, I'm not going any more. I can't put myself through this again".
Ten minutes later the lowest I've ever been was followed by the highest I've ever been.

My hardest seasons were the two in the first division before the season in the third tier. There were some very ugly atmospheres at home in those days. I vaguely remember (I'd started to drink heavily at games by this stage!) Dibble in tears at the end of a game and defeats against Preston and Huddersfield at home which sparked very angry reactions and very very loud "You're not fit to wear the shirt!" chants. Please feel free to fill in the gaps for me.

That was a bad night. I watched it in a pub with my girlfriend at the time, a red. By full time most of the Blues in the pub had slunk off. Some big fat bloke started taking the piss out of me. I went for him, calling him alsorts. My gilrfreind's mum calmed me down.

I found out later it was my girlfriend's uncle, embarrassingly.

And I remember being stunned at how much luck they had - every time they scored it seemed that a loose ball richoched perfectly for them. Maybe your bung theory is right....!

I would argue that it is not physically possible to be reach those contrasting levels of emotion we did on that day in such a short space of time outside of surviving a major disaster. I'm fucking serious!
