The Factions of Bluemoon

only one Dave, i've had quite a few. I've felt like that after most of the ridiculous cup upsets we've managed to "achieve". But one of the worst for me was the 5-0 drubbing off the rags, I don't care what anyone says Simon Tracey took a bung that match as i've NEVER seen a keeper push so many shots back into play, they weren't even good shots. A good keeper would have gathered 'em, a half decent keeper would have saved a few and knocked a couple around the post, a bad keeper would have saved one or two pushed a couple around the post and one back into play. A keeper that has took a back-hander pushes them ALL back into play!

My hardest seasons were the two in the first division before the season in the third tier. There were some very ugly atmospheres at home in those days. I vaguely remember (I'd started to drink heavily at games by this stage!) Dibble in tears at the end of a game and defeats against Preston and Huddersfield at home which sparked very angry reactions and very very loud "You're not fit to wear the shirt!" chants. Please feel free to fill in the gaps for me.

I'd like to but watching the bottom of a glass was usually a far more attractive proposition that watching the match back then. The 6 - 0 against Swindon was yet another false dawn and after that the bar, the spliffs behind the Kippax and the shared flask of scotch beckoned earlier and more frequently.

My rock bottom was undoubtedly when the Gillingham 2nd went in.

It's the only time I have ever thought "I've had enough of this club".

Lincoln away the same season. It was the typical cliche...A wet windy tuesday night in Lincoln. We were late getting there but didn't worry about the kick off as the team coach was behind us, so as long as it remained there we didn't have a problem! How we wished they'd have stayed on that f'kin coach and never got off. Think it got to a few people that night as it also kicked off in the ground.
That was my "i've had enough of this!" moment. But it never happened. Unlike when you're coming down off heroin you have a methadone substitute to take the edge off, what do we have?

Yeah, it could be evil in those days. The Huddersfield one was a freezing cold Friday night, I think and the boos at the end were awful. Bury was another bad one. The anger was palpable. David Makin, major shareholder, rang GMR that night and absolutely bitched abot Franny Lee live on air. It was the beginning of the end for him, he couldn't survive that.

We used to sing "We're shit...and we're sick of it" and also, the age old Maine Road classic
for when things went tits up..."What the fuck is going on?"

Even our relationship was borne out of moaning was it not?

However my moaning is now limited to having to buy you a 'frothy latte' in a public house...it just isn't right!!!

However drink and recreational drugs seem to take the edge off moaning and just makes you shrug your shoulders all the time....allegedly!

Relationship? Oo-er missus, you'll have people talking!!!

But I remember it well... Grimsby away, you having a pop at me for my well-founded and researched views... you finally admitting I was right.

Nothing changes eh?!!!

And even the frothy lattes might have to take a back seat soon... and I go back to the Soda Waters! I may be unavoidably detained over the next few weeks, so hope to meet up with you again when all is sorted. Capeesh?

What a day that was. I ended up having to blag a disabled ticket, and then stating my disability was a mental illness as my body is in full working order. I think licking the window at the turnstile dispelled any suspicions they had!

However they did contribute to having some good nights out after the games. Things couldn't have got any worse so anything else was a joy! Many a lock-in at the Gardeners after such games and totally wasted. The whole thing was a bit surreal.

I was a Gardeners man, Barry, and regularly stayed there after games.

It was a good lot in there in those days. Some of the music glitterati would be in there, too.

It was your thinking Blue's pub.

You were knobbing the barmaid if I remember right.

You can FRO on that one...She could make a pie crust with them teeth!!! I remember being in there once when somebody head butted the glass fronted juke box. The landlady comes round the corner and shouts 'who did that?' to which one of the aforementioned glitterati who was with us said ' i think it's the one with the glass in his forehead pumping out blood' as the gobshite who did it was still sat there in the pub.
And if you ever needed batteries, bacon or cheese, you would always get them readily available to you on a matchday.

Us old timers are meandering this thread all over the place.

Remember the little bald kid doing a sponsored swim/bikeride/walk/carjack every single week?

That heart charity fella who was like a parrot "I hope you never need it"
