The Food (merged)

At Piccadilly train station you can grab a cooked meal in a couple of outlets as well as the usual burger king/fried chicken fare.Pret does a decent sandwich for around £3.25 and a good filter coffee for 99p.Boots and it is a sandwich,a soft drink and a chocolate bar for about £3.50.Jump on the metro and you are at the ground in minutes.

Buying food or drink at the ground for me will never happen unless i literally just get there at the last minute and haven't eaten on the way.
 
I've never been one for eating and drinking at football grounds. For home games I have something to eat before leaving for the match except when it's a lunchtime kick off and then grab chips and gravy from the Chinese on Ashton New Road. For those who want to eat and drink inside the stadium and are happy to pay the prices then fair enough.
 
What kind of fat bastard can't manage a couple of hours without eating? Think it's over priced? Don't buy it. There's nobody holding a gun to your head. Always makes me laugh people moaning about cinema food prices. Eat before you go and you won't need to buy a tenner's worth of popcorn.
 
The Cheeseburger I had in he ground was absolutely spot on. No waiting either, asked for it and was given it ready made in about 4 seconds. £4.50 is about right for a football match. Where were these £6 odd ones?

Got mine on CBL2. Having relocated to a cheaper seat on level 3 I needed some sustenance on the climb up.

Same here. Guy came out underneath East Stand with a big tray of pies shouting 'free food'. Excellent pie worth every penny I paid.
 
Well... Just thought I would give this thread a bump:
As anyone who has read through or contributed to this thread knows when it comes to Jamie Oliver at the Etihad TGR is on the case!

I noticed a significant drop in demand for JO's food today at the Hull game. There was virtually no queues even 10 - 15 minutes before the match (see the picture below taken 14 minutes before the kick off).

I reckon the takings will be well down from the opening Newcastle game by some considerable distance. The reason? It has to be the price - it is eye wateringly expensive for the average football fan. I gave JO's grub a miss today and went to Tony's chippy next to Mary D's before the game and had fish & chips with curry sauce for £6.00 and it has to be said it was good. That would not even get me one of Jamie's steak & ale pies in the ground. OK - its early days but I do think the club & JO are going to have to re-think their pricing strategy as on current evidence the whole thing will be nowhere near a commercially viable concern.

We'll see...
 
I can't see a problem with the food prices at COMS.

If you don't want a mediocre, small pie for £3.80 don't buy it.

Please at least read some of the postings on the thread before making such silly comments ;-)

The £3.80 pie is NOT a Jamie Oliver pie! It is a common or gardener 'normal' pie.
Jamie's 'fanfayre' delicacy is north of £6.00!

This thread is about the food that JO is seving up.

Here endeth the lesson. And once again dear boy.... ;-)
 
Wanted to try and a cheese and potato pie today but none in stock at my nearest food kiosk, even before kickoff.

So I got the £2.70 (or so) chips... a small cup that was about half full. I literally got around 12 or 13 chips. They were nice but I paid about 24p per chip. :)

£0.24p per chip. Is that sustainable in the long term? I don't think so. The fans have already voted with their feet today.
It doesn't look good for Jamie's 'food revolution' unfortunately.
 
Stench of cheap, overused frying fat.

In the two home games this season I have noticed a disgusting, strong smell of cheap cooking wafting around the family stand.

At times it is overpowering and like walking past a late night fast food joint which has used the same cooking oil since 1989 because its drunken clientele couldn't care less.

No thank you City.

Get it sorted out.
 
Not sure what is going on with the catering. I'm in Colin bell level 1 and today thought I'd try the gourmet stuff. Had a burger and my boy had a hotdog and yes it was pricy but I have to say the quality of the burger was excellent. However I have a friend on level 2 and she said she got the same and it was horrible. She even took a pic and it looked nothing like the one I got (which looked like the ones initially on city tv).

Had a JO burger today and it was excellent bought it at the bar on CB L2 just a little pricy
