Stan was what the South Africans called "Cape Coloured". 'Relations' between people of different ethnic origins was a crime, so the Apartheid regime pretended they didn't happen and, to account for the offspring of such couplings, they made up a mythical tribe which they called Cape Coloured. YCNMIU.
