cant predict the weather ........ at half 6 .... no one knows if it would get worse or ease off, so cant blame anyone.

i saw the weather forecast of possible Hurricane wind speeds at 2pm and i decided then not to go ..... in the end its down to common sense.
There was a detailed weather report on the BBC on Sunday telling us about this today.

exactly .... the mentality of people in this country regarding the weather astounds me sometimes. Whinge when there's a centremetre of snow shutting down the country, whinge when killer winds cancel a footy match.

if the game went ahead, the ball would be like an old 'fly away' ........ those of us that were at school in the late 80's know how those games turned out lol

Correct decision. As I've just seen Mary poppins fly past my bedroom window but having set off at 6:10 and got into the city centre via train I can understand why people are annoyed!! I was pissed wet through!! Blues you are entitled to a whinge ... Get it out of your system lol

Absolute disgrace. Well pissed off!

Plus it's absolutely fine now.

I left work, got to the carpark, went to ASDA to get something to eat, walked back to the car and put the radio on to listen for updates. It was bad, but really not that bad. And now it's just a strong wind, nothing serious whatsoever.

But they've had all fucking day to call it off and they've known since the weekend that the weather was going to be bad today.

What about all the Blues who travel a long way and the Mackems coming down from up there?

They should have been onto the Met Office this morning and a decision should have been made then not at 18:30. Most people who will have decided to come to the game will have left by that time. And the rest will have made the decision not to go.

It doesn't matter if just 10000 or so fans turn up. The game just needs to go ahead if it can and it really could have. Right now the weather is just fine and as I say of bet by 18:30 everyone who will have been coming will have set off already.

Stoke just delayed their game. Why not do that? Give everyone the extra time to get into the ground?

When are we going to play this fucking game now?

Just don't understand this decision at all, at the time it was made.

Someone said that one of the panels on level 2 had blown out, the decision was made for the health and safety of the fans and although it might have died down around the stadium it sure as anything hasn't died down in other parts, plus the traffic all around Manchester was virtually at a standstill and lots of trains had been halted.
I know that some people trying to get back to Manchester & not for the match, have had to find accomodation for tonight because of the trains.

Stoke might just have been postponed but they, will all due respect to them, are not in the middle of a large city.

I think the health and safety of the fans is very important and whilst I feel sorry for the fans travelling a long distance and especially for the Sunderland fans who now have to go back along that motorway.

A strong wind can not only cause a lot of damage but also a lot of injuries. There are trees being uprooted, roads closed etc and people being hurt.

After a four hour journey getting as far north as Stoke on the M6 we've just got home. Sat down to watch the Arse v Rags and had a text from the club to tell me our game is off due to exceptional weather conditions! Better late than never I guess :)
