Blinkered you lot mate

I learnt a lesson in the mob when we used to have new officers coming into our departments. These new section leaders wanted to make a mark and often used their own phrase "a new broom sweeps clean" so they introduced changes that fucked the system....

Eventually these new officers would be generally taken to one side and taught that "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

UK PLC is on the road to recovery and this is the wrong time to bring in a new brush..... IMHO
But UK plc was already well on the road to recovery in Q2 2010. That's an indisputable fact. Austerity completely stifled that recovery for 3 years until Osborne (probably with today in mind) was forced to relax the scale of cuts and increase spending. Even so, growth in this supposed recovery was minimal during the first quarter of 2015, rising by just 0.3%.

The Construction and Manufacturing sectors are well behind where they were pre-2008 and any growth is being driven by the Services sector and London & the South-East.

You simply cannot build a sustainable recovery without (a) making things and (b) increased productivity. Even the uber-economic liberals at The Economist keep saying this and that we are not doing anywhere near enough on either count.

Interesting bit on Newsnight about Miliband's dad - who adored Karl Marx & wanted capitalism destroyed.

Were they describing how he, after fleeing the Nazis and arriving in Britain, he went down to the recruiting office and joined the British forces? How he risked his life, like many others, for three years in the North Atlantic, defending Britains shores in i's darkets hour?

Or was't there time for that, what with the piece about how Call me Daves dad got a sick note so he didn't have to serve but still managed to play competitive tennis in to his forties?
A personal attack on Cameron's Dad just makes your post on the same level as JOTL

Well done, not many plumb those depths.

Oh I don't know
Cameron disgustingly used his dead kid in an NHS debate.

Like I said,I'm ok Jack.Tell you what let's give the bankers another bonus.
Why shouldn't they get a bonus if they make their shareholders money?

That chip is weighing your shoulder down isn't it.

And yes I'm ok jack and working fucking hard for it.

Why's that? It just means 10,000 more people in your area prefer another party than you.
I know what you're saying, but the electorate doesn't want PR, never has, never will, which is democracy in action.
You need to move to a Conservative area, where instead of condescending scorn at your chosen candidate, you get indulgent smiles and cries of
'Fair play fellow, the poor **** has no chance, but do carry on!'
Plus the fact there's less chance of queuing behind doleys and other riff-raff ;)

No parasitical financial "adviser" should earn more than a nurse.

I hope I get home in time to vote conservative. Even though my constituency is one of the safest Tory seats I think it is everyone's duty to vote.

If you don't vote you can't complain

Agreed.

Even if you believe that the voting system isn't fair you should at least vote for a party that wants to change it.

If I was PM I would make it illegal for non voters to complain about politics.

I am not sure how I would make it work in practice so I will probably have to ask Damocles to run the system for me.

The MP in my constituency - who represents a party that I don't support - has an unassailable majority. Can anyone tell me what is the point in my voting? Just so that I can complain afterwards with a clear conscience?

It's so you can come on here and tell everyone that you have voted and anyone who doesn't has no right to complain (most economists would have a good argument for many on here as to why one vote has never and will never influence an election).

I wonder if there is any link between who you vote for and how quick you are willing to let everyone know you have voted.

I still can't decide. I'm instinctively anti-Tory but I think Miliband will not be a credible PM. On a personal level I'll probably be better off under the Tories but I agree with more of Labour's policies. On the other hand I trust them less with the economy. UKIP have the most sensible energy policy but I don't agree with their main policy of getting us out of Europe. I don't agree with much of what the Lib Dems say and the Greens are in cloud cuckoo land.

I'll probably vote based on the local situation. In my constituency only Labour or the Lib Dems can get in so I'll probably vote Labour.

The only one's I've definitely ruled out are the Lib Dems and the Greens.

Envy politics outlined to perfection.
No footballer should get paid more than a doctor.
No comedian should be worth 9million,
Nobody should earn what I think is too much.
Etc; etc;

Dry weather
Massive turnout

Both favour Labour historically.

England would have needed to be as dry as Death Valley for years to compensate for the safe seats Labour have thrown away in Scotland.

My Tory vote is Cast - please god this country sees sense today.

This would be like city sacking Joe Mercer at his peak and putting Phil Neil in Charge if Ed ends up as PM.

Tories got less than 12% in mine last time

Anything can be subject to change if enough people will it.

Why not?

Nursing is a modest skill and so it is fairly easy to persuade people to do it for a reasonable wage.

Anyway, as nurses don't work for the money. They do it because they care.

Voted UKIP.

Most of those I know who usually/always vote Labour have also moved to UKIP this time around.

If the only reason for (me) voting is so that I can complain afterwards, I think I'll just pretend to have voted, and complain anyway, in particular about the pretence of democracy. Why should I waste my vote?.

I don't know. You should ask their clients.

Who should earn more than a nurse our of interest?

Other than me.

It is perfectly legal to swap your vote although too late for this election.
