See that Cam is now refusing to debate one on one with Ed.
And yet strangely the press aren't making a big deal of it.
Can you imagine the criticism of Ed if the situation had been reversed?

Radio 4 have replayed Cameron's hysterical bawling from the House of Commons in 2010 when he challenges Brown to a live TV debate for the "main political parties".

Cameron is mow wanting a 90 minute soundbite show with at least 7 other leaders before the Tories issue their manifesto.

Would Thatcher have ever run scared like this?

Probably.

LONDON — Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher clashed with Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock today as Britain's election campaign got under way, refusing to debate him on television.

Kinnock, whose socialist Labour Party advocates unilateral nuclear disarmament, urged Thatcher to agree to a televised debate, but she turned him down, saying: "I fear such a debate would generate more hot air than light."

Neil Kinnock wasn't fit to lick Lady Thatchers boots never mind debate with her. God rest her soul.

I'm no fan of Thatcher but she would have destroyed him.

Let's be clear, leaders from both Tories and Labour have backed out of TV debates.

For those commenting on Thatcher..

"I have fought three elections against the BBC and don't want to fight another against it."

Milliband will still struggle even if they do empty chair DCam

To be fair an empty chair would make a better job of defending this government than Cameron.

Perhaps there is a logic to his cowardice.

So what does he need to defend exactly?

The guilty are always scared of a trial

Cameron destroys Ed the Red in every PMQs so doubtful he's worried about a TV debate. It's sad that still in 2015 it has to be Tory v Labour and this is why smaller parties still suffer.
Don't get me wrong I will be voting conservative but to say Cameron destroys Ed in PMQs is ridiculous. The last 3 weeks Ed has had Cameron by the balls.

Yesterday when asked about his immigration pledge Cameron had no comeback and started quoting the 2010 leaflet of things he had got right. In a live debate he can't babble about shit that's got nothing to do with the questions asked.

Exactly the same happened in the 2nd jobs debate in PMQs the week before.

So what does he need to defend exactly?

His record and his forthcoming manifesto I would have thought.

5 years ago he taunted Gordon Brown (rightly in my view) over his reluctance to take part in the televised debate with the leaders of the main political parties.

What has changed since then?

well at least if Cameron wimps out then Milliband won't have to try and remember what the key polices are

bless

Yes he will because he will have to explain and justify them regardless of whether Cameron is there or not.

well thats him buggered then

perhaps he could get his brother to do it for him instead

I've never watched one of these TV debates.

I know what the Tories will do if they win the election.

They'll keep a tight rein on government expenditure and try to run the economy properly.

I know what Labour will do if they win it.

They'll go on a tax and spend binge and leave the economy in a mess.

Why do I need to watch a TV debate?

You might be right- but isn't that the point of having the debate?

All we need now are swivelling chairs and fuck off big X's under the candidates podium.
Sexy voice. "If you'd like Dave to stay on the stage vote now".

If it was on BBC you shouldn't be watching it anyway because you refuse to pay your licence fee.

Labour left the country in an incredible mess and the tories have done well to steer the economy on its current path.

The labour party let open the floodgates to mass uncontrolled immigration and created a hugely inefficient and bloated public sector.

I genuinely am scared if they win the election.

I wouldn't have to go to jail for murder if the police were as hopeless and powerless as the BBC's revenue enforcement goons.

Why does anyone watch these debates?

We know what the parties stand for.

We know Cameron is a reasonably normal man.

We know Miliband is weird.

What is there to be learned from watching?

You have posted some incredibly good common sense posts recently. And stuck to your guns against the left wing onslaught. Your post above just sums it up with regard to the election. Would we want Ed Miliband representing this country across the Globe? Of course not.

And here's me thinking the Chuckle Brothers had retired.
