The General Election Thread

why do the labour party keep going on about the nhs ? it will never go private, however the problems of the nhs are due to labour;
too many immigrants let in without any consideration for their health requirements, whether that be sickness they brought with them, illnesses caused by change of climate ( daft but true ), increase in childbirth, accidents etc
health tourism and non payment, when we go abroad, no insurance no treatment, very disappointed the last government didn't stop this, but i feel liberals wouldn't allow that to happen.
under labour, only 10 years ago mrsa, c dif was rife and cost lives, and millions, i won't even mention the hospitals like north staffordshire and others that failed their patients horrifically.
labour employed thousands in unnecessary non jobs paying ridiculous salaries, why employ 1 person on 150k per year, instead of 6 nurses on 25k per year ? maybe the non job manager on 150k pays 56k in tax whereas 6 nurses combined only pay 18k in tax, a difference of 38k, multiply that by the number of unnecessary managers equates to hundreds of millions of pounds DEFICIT per annum, where will they make up that sort of finance, higher taxation or the private sector which labour despises. the mansion tax ? why didn't miliband make it a 2 million or 1.5 million threshold, maybe because they would have to pay the tax themselves.
these managers wasted so much money on pointless things, i remember a large round marble costing 70k for the entrance to one hospital, surely that should have been spent on medicines or vital equipment, i was in hospital yesterday having an arthroscopy, i'm not interested in decor or marble globes i just want a clean, disease free hospital with competent, friendly staff.
yes there is a requirement for the private sector in the nhs but these non jobs employing private companies paying stupid money to staff who aren't qualified to do the job required is a waste of resources

An extra 8bn being pumped into it, four times what the socialists pledged.

In politics a 'pledge' is not a promise. As I said a few weeks ago, if the Cons are going to put in £8 billion, they haven't said at what point that will start to happen and from where they will get that money.

The Cons have less than a 1% swing against Labour, that's about 17 seats, so they didn't do that great against their main rivals. People rejected the Libs and, obviously, the SNP came into play to work against Labour.

What that means is Labour are alive and kicking. A new radiant leader will give them all they need in England, without reliance on Scottish influence.

Really? The Jocks decided the majority of what happened last night and the public have spoken

People are saying that you cant blame Ed, I disagree, its akin to Tommy Cooper passing me his material, I'd die flat on my arse! It's about policies and pledges for sure but the key is the delivery and having credibility

They fucked up big time as we all know when they let David move to the Big Apple and this is not an overnight fix

A gamble that looks to have failed miserably

Not sure you can blame Miliband for a self character assassination! The media did that.
Picked on him for his voice, his eating and anything else that they could think of and the average Joe began to pick up on it too. Remember, even TV looked at the image perception and that was ill judged.

It seems that people would rather get taken in by the horribly conceived "no money" joke that Cameron ran with, than actually looking at caused the real financial crisis. The Cons brilliantly laid the blame on Labour and it was swallowed.

Good job.

I will agree that David Miliband being beaten for the leadership set this off and I think he'll be back. However, Ed was right in shifting Labour away from the Blair association.

That needed to happen, full stop.

He's probably pright though. Without a coalition partner to exercise at least some restraint, the next five years are going to be brutal I suspect. Deep cuts and little growth in productivity are on the menu.

Surely you are missing the point this is democracy and working people all over the country are sick of the issues raised by Benefit cheats scroungers and immigration These points were all at the forefront of this election and it looks like the majority have come down in favour of action against these pressing issues.
If that's what you think this election was really about then I fucking despair.

Well I think you are going to be in a state of despair for the next five years at least then

Tax fraud/evasion costs this country and its tax payers far more than any benefit fraud does, fact as Rafa would put it.

Sick to fucking death of reading the same shite all the time, in fact it disgusts me and no, I didn't vote Labour before some smart arse comes on.

Yep, the demonising of people on benefits has been shameful.
