That's a long way away, thought it had to be 6 weeks from when called.
I've clearly been away too long - is that a full term the Tories / LDems will have served?

yes

Should be a great month May.

City winning the Premier League (and maybe a Cup) and Red Ed as the next PM (maybe with a little help from his friends the SNP,Libs,Greens,PC etc etc).

Yes. They made a law at the start of this one introducing fixed five year terms for parliaments. Not sure how that would have panned out if the coalition had split.

Its only fixed term if the gvt can survive votes of confidence.

I don't think so. it will be blue the whole month :-)

I think it's got a lot more interesting north of the border with the drop in the price of oil. No one is predicting a quick return to the levels we've seen over the last few years. A lot of people in Scotland might be put off giving the SNP too much power at the moment. Maybe Labour won't be wiped out as people were predicting last year.

If the other participants are that worried about Dave's absence, why not just agree to let the Green Party play and he will be forced to show up, its not rocket science, in fact I would replace the Libdems with the Green Party as they are more relevant, Clegg and his cronies are a laughing stock..!
or alternatively Dave could just show up.
.....in a mankini!

so you need 6 parties to defeat one.
figures.

The Telegraph, Guardian and YouTube have been suggesting for almost a year that they would like to arrange a live online debate including all five. Funnily enough neither Labour or Conservatives have agreed to it.

As I said a few pages back, I don't believe for a minute that either Cameron or Miliband are going to join in a debate with Nigel Farage. Hope I'm proved wrong even if it's only one and not the other.

It's about democracy and about the election.

Why should the TV companies/papers decide who should and who shouldn't be invited to broadcast their manifestos?

These debates are big these days, there are a lot who will base the decision on this alone. Not me but many will.

Either it's the main parties or it's a broader spectrum. Why on earth are UKIP invited but no one else?

But it will be funny if they go ahead without Dave. But they won't and hopefully if Farage is there he'll be shown up for the dangerous buffoon that he is.

Instead of watching talking heads spouting carefully prepared soundbites in stage managed tv debates why not go out to hustings and listen to what the person you are actually going to vote for has to say?

Everyone's getting worked up about Ofcom saying it should be UKIP but not the Greens. I don't see what it's got to do with Ofcom at all, nor can I see why any TV company needs to pay any attention to what they have to say, other than the point I made above that I think that both Cameron and Miliband want to avoid it and their mates in the BBC, ITV and Sky will be only too happy to lend a hand. Hopefully the Youtube one will go ahead and if that means two empty chairs, so be it.

I think there is far more important things to sort out other than who sits round a table. Still a difficult year to contend with.
LOL , if the situation was reversed and it was Ed refusing to participate in the debates you'd be calling him all the names under the sun.
Strange how your views suddenly change when it's Dave who's accused of being 'frit'.
