So Thatcher didn't refuse to take part in any debates then?
She repeatedly did, but from a position of strength where she had everything to lose. Cameron does not share that luxury.

Spot on. Cameron must be sure he can win the election without thw debates, either very clever or suicidal. Whilst im a long way from supporting tory i cannot see why he would duck miliband i na one to one....david fukin beckham could outwit miliband. Genuinely interested what tory voters make of this, why wont he do the debates?
Perhaps your views of Milliband's abilities and policies are somewhat different from those of Cameron.

Considering he seems to get the better of him every week i doubt that. Id rather see labour in govt before the tories but i cant defend miliband. If david miband had won the leadership i think labour would be heading for a majority.

I think even the more ardent Labour supporters would agree that Thatcher never ducked a scrap, she was in debates but decided the labour leaning BBC were not getting more than there two peneth worth..! Do you actually remember who Thatcher was up against in those days, arguably the most inept labour leaders of all time, current leader accepted who makes Michael Foot look like a political genius..! She destroyed Labour in every way, until she went a tad too far..! Still the best PM since Churchill though by a foookin billion miles..!

She ducked the releasing of the Cyril Smith paedophile documents for a start.

I think history will show her as possible one of the most corrupt PMs in British history....plus she was a fucking evil witch as well.

And if you think any of todays political leaders could hold a handle to Micheal Foot it just shows how little you know of politics. Foot was the sort of intellectual political giant so sadly missing in British politics since the 60s.

I prefer her to this insipid band of tossers we have at the minute.
Where's the character gone?
Probably left at home with their chins and backbones.

That's what I thought.

Nice take on it in The Times today. Appparently Roy Jenkins commented in 1997 that, despite Labour's 20 point lead in the polls, Blair was edging to the finishing line like an aged butler carrying a rare ming vase across a slippery floor, determined not to slip up. Whereas Cameron is acting like the lord of the manor thinking he's carrying securely a family heirloom when in reality he's holding a broken vase from IKEA.

Such is the aloofness of the most senior members of the modern tory party. They no doubt believe that the undeserving would not dare remove them fro their positions of power

Why is that fat bastard Alex Slamond having such an in put in to the General Election? He is no longer an elected politician. I suppose you could say the same for Natalie Bennett as well. But why can't Nicola Sturgeon speak for herself and the SNP?

Salmond appears to be a bit of a bully when he doesn't get his own way. You would have thought that he would just fuck off after the indy ref. I wish the jocks had won it to keep them away from English politics.

Sturgeon is the head of the Scottish Parliament. Salmons hopes to be the head of the Westminster group of SNP MP's after the election. He believes he will hold the balance of power and will force Labour into a massive £180 billion spending spree

So he will be the whip for the SNP party..If of course he wins his seat in the GE2015

Tactically its quite clever. Salmond fronts the election campaign then afterwards Sturgeon has a free hand in the negotiations because "Alex wasnt speaking for the SNP"

I think we can safely assume he will. Can't stand him personally

It isn't clever what so ever. The SNP and Alex Salmond are both very bitter. If anybody thinks the SNP will bring any thing positive to Westminster are very much mistaken. They will simply be a headache for England and Westminster.

Salmond has thrown his toys out of his pram as a result of the referendum loss and is coming to town to spoil things for everybody else.
