The gloryhunters are starting to arrive...

We'll have support like Uniteds and Chelsea... just gonna have to accept the vast majority of real fans will be fucked off.

Inevitable that there will be bandwagon jumpers, plastics, tourists and the like. Those who will never park their arse on a blue seat.

'Tis upto the fans who have seen the Creaneys and Ewings, the Bells and Kinkys to make sure MCFC keep their feet firmly planted in Mc/r ground.

Gloryhunting is too maligned.

People want to be a fan of an exciting club, not some shit boring club entering administration like Liverpool.

Getting a worldwide fanbase, gloryhunters or not, is the only way the club can be financially self-sufficient. That's how the Rags, Real, and Barca did it. America is the final frontier for football.

Agree we should not be adopting a holier than thou attitude to new fans. Yes there are diehards who've been through thick and thin (and some more thin for good measure) but the club need to becomme self sufficient. I'm sure the rumblings from the new owners regarding increasing capacity would become a reality if the demand is there. A stadium with a capacity similar to the nou camp etc would allow for affordable tickets for all. Having a big club mentality yet still looking after the fans will be the biggest balancing act the club will have to make

We should encorage new fans. We were all new fans once.

This. And I am afraid "Glory Hunters" are only a sign of a club doing it right.
We need new fans if we want a stadium extention. more the better as long as we can all get in at a decent price

i would guess there are many lapsed ciy fans who's interest has been stirred

There are 1000's

We have this debate on here every few weeks, I don't care as long as they support the club, we are supping at the devils table now and we will get what comes from it

A lad i know who was a die-hard Leeds fan in their hayday, well he turned up to the pub the other day with a City keyring!

If that twunt Platt is let loose on us we'll be lucky to hang on to any glory hunters..

on a yank forum i post on a lot of new posters have suddenly pledged alliance to man city and when i question them on why they are 'fans' of our team, the answers are all inadequate

i really fear if we keep our current rate of spending on players up, where is this gonna leave us fans? like chelsea's hardcore? supported thier team in the thousands in the 80's yet cant get in now? will we end up the same?

i want success like the rest of you, but i cant help but feel all of us who have supported the team for years are going to get slung aside for profits, and it will happen imo

sorry for doommongering :)

A couple of points...

a lot of new posters have suddenly pledged alliance to man city... Great!

when i question them on why they are 'fans' of our team... Question them?

the answers are all inadequate... Adequate?

all of us who have supported the team for years are going to get slung aside... Get over yourself!

What exactly are the credentials that give you more right to claim to support Manchester City FC above anyone else on the planet...? and who are you doing this questioning on behalf of? Certainly not MCFC, or the vast majority of Real City fans that I know.

Oh and before you ask, I'm sure you'll find my credentials are more than adequate.
