The gloryhunters are starting to arrive...

Do the people against having new fans really believe the Sheikh is investing in both MCFC and Greater Manchester purely out of his overflowing benevolence to the fans of City Football? Really? Do you really think he wants zero return? If City get a network television show akin to what Chelsea has (as Sheikh Mansour has indicated), who the bloody hell do you think the target audience will be? And you really think those advertisers would be good with only a Manc audience, too?

So, if I were to travel to Manchester from the USA in February, and wanted to have drinks and a meal to watch the derby vs rags at Mary D'Bermish because I could not secure away tickets for the match at Owed Trafford, you would look down on me because I just I do not know your history as well as you? Really? Even though it would cost me a few thousand dollars in hotel, food, drinks, and other purchases during a 10 day stay--money invested in your community? Are things really that prosperous in Manchester?

on a yank forum i post on a lot of new posters have suddenly pledged alliance to man city and when i question them on why they are 'fans' of our team, the answers are all inadequate

i really fear if we keep our current rate of spending on players up, where is this gonna leave us fans? like chelsea's hardcore? supported thier team in the thousands in the 80's yet cant get in now? will we end up the same?

i want success like the rest of you, but i cant help but feel all of us who have supported the team for years are going to get slung aside for profits, and it will happen imo

sorry for doommongering :)

Mate, as much as I agree with you- I would rather neutrals be WITH US than AGAINST US.

I understand you. You'll be welcomed with open arms by most blues and Mancunians... I think you'd find all are welcome here. However, there are some so full of self-importance or ignorance that will give you grief no matter what you do or say. These kind of people unfortunately exist everywhere and are not limited to only one part of the world.

I think most people fear the "money mob" or "glory hunter" arriving because they don't want to be priced out of the game they love and have supported for so long.

Is that ignorant???

There is no evidence whatsoever that this will happen. Fear and ignorance are frequent bedfellows.

The more the merrier, Perhaps we will be able to open the full stadium for this seasons Europa and carling cup games and not have the piss taken for the pathetic attendances in the past.

Actually I think you'll find that there is plenty of evidence that the seeds are being planted already ...........

-- Sun Jul 04, 2010 3:16 pm --

Only hard core turn up for these games....it will be the same this season. Unless we get through to latter stages then we'll sell out

I don't want to argue with you and I'm sure you have a point to make, but I wanted to highlight that Manchester is a very welcoming city with a rich cosmopolitan feel. In my experience the Citizens of Manchester are mostly open-minded and the best of fans.

I agree mate ..my point is that many people already cannot afford to go to the ground to watch their beloved club and I can only see this getting worse the more successful we are.

It's a difficult one..we crave success but want the club to remain the same and be affordaable to the hardcore loyal blues who have followed the club through thick and thinner. ( like me)
