we`re all glory hunters. i started my glory hunting in waiting days in 1959 :)

yep Dec 1959 me, but due to my hectic lifestyle i could'nt possibly start supporting the blues til i was 7 yrs old 1967..those wasted 7 years will always haunt me.. ;)

well ive been here since the early 70s, wasnt born in manchester, never lived in manchester, but ive got blue blood in me, allways will. as for glory hunters, when blackburn won the prem, in donny there was quite a few of there shirts around, then chelsea and so on. it happens. oh there are hundreds of the rag shirts around here as well, and most have never been

I have been glory hunting for the duration of my life! Still haven't seen any! I can't wait to bastard well see it and the anticipation of it being just around the corner is great.

Only those that have been through the last few decades will really appreciate the success. I will more than likely cry when we win something but I definitely won't be annoyed by those that want to enjoy the roller coaster as well. They won't know what they have ahead of them where as we know someone could be lobbing a sleeper on the track at any minute and will still be there after the wreckage. (hopefully not in my lifetime though!)

I have noticed over here in red rat country a few kids now waring the city shirt,i'am a bit unsure on how to take this,on the one hand it's less little red rat fuckers running around, but on the other you think bandwagon jumpers.i suppose what someone posted earlier holds true, that we were all new fans at some point.

-- Sun Jul 04, 2010 8:33 am --

i had no option my dad took me, bastard. he says all i did was run up and down the steps all through the games just for fun. sometimes the football was that bad he felt like joining me. :)

Attracting new support and being fair to the proper fans are not mutually exclusive imo.

However, for me there are some worrying signs coming out of the club around this subject.

I don't care if they want to 'expand the global brand'.

Go ahead. It makes no difference to me. If I see legions of Malaysians or even Cockneys all of a sudden wearing City shirts I'll just see it as I see it when I see the same groups wearing rag shirts. A joke. People with no connection to the club or city but who are attracted purely by the opportunity to attach themselves to perceived success.

I will pity them but it has zero affect on my support or going to matches.

But what I don't like the sound of is the likes of the surveys that were, allegedly (it was bollocks in truth) used to justify the season ticket revamp/fiasco.

Those surveys, especially the more recent one were not really focused on fans as they claimed. The questions were all based around people who don't regularly go to matches, who aren't proper supporters, but might decide to go more if there are more hotdogs or more face painting or more corporate shite. That's how the questions were angled and it is a bad sign imo.

The fact that they were ready to fuck off so many loyal fans at such short notice with the season tickets joke changes. The fact that a club willing to throw silly money at agents, sponsors, corporate partners and average players is so keen to shaft the fans with such big increases, it's all a bit worrying imo. Regardless of how many people Garry Cook gladhands or buys a drink.

I might be wrong. They might do it right and attract a load of mug gloryhunters whilst being fair to the proper fans. It's definitely not impossible. But one or two of the signs, so early on, leave me wondering. We can only wait and see.

I am a glory hunter too ever since my dad took me to see man city reserves in 1969. Lived in stockport at the time.

Obviously we're gonna get new fans, I remember in the 90s for the first time ever seeing people walking round the Arndale in Blackburn and Newcastle tops.

This will be happening in shopping malls all over the South East with City tops. Though the local rags will be hard pressed to find a good reason to slag em off without looking utter twats themselves.

Nothing we can do about it. Don't let it spoil the fun we're all about to have.

New fans are great for the club and most will be from abroad tbh and pose no threat to seasoned supporters and their seats at games home and away.

It's the fucking gloryhuntingpoxybasterds from this country who will change allegiance from their current club when we start do the business..

They can just do one tbh.

-- Sun Jul 04, 2010 10:31 am --

The only question you need to ask yourself..Are you willing to let a zillion gloryhunters share the tab or do you want to see the current fanbase paying the bill in toto.

Because we need to expand on all fronts to be able to buy players like Silva and similar. People conveniently forget that there´s a new set of financial rules in place and imagine that Sheikh Mansour will be able to continue pay the bills for all eternity.
