The goalkeeper situation

How I see it is that Ederson is an integral part to how we currently play, and have played over the last 7 seasons. He is ultimately more than a goalkeeper & I don't think there is anyone better in world football that suits our style of play more than Ederson.

Ortega is brilliant, has never let us down when called upon, and is arguably too good to be a back-up keeper.

We signed him for nothing and I wouldn't begrudge him from wanting to move on in the summer for first-team football wherever he decides to go.

We would likely get 25m+ for him and I'm sure there would be a long list of clubs interested in his services.

It's a win win for all parties involved.

I can’t think of a club with our ambition who regularly rotate their keeper. It’s not a done thing in football for me for a reason. It’s important to keep the familiarity behind the defence.

However, I do like sub keepers starting league cup and FA Cup matches in order to retain fitness in case of injury.

I’d be interested in Ortega if I was managing another club. He may want first team football.
