The Grauniad today

Pathetic response. But entirely predictable. The fact is you and others are telling Jews they're being over-sensitive.

I try not to emulate people like Stephen Pollard, who come dangerously close to being hysterical on this subject and I'm not particularly a fan of David Baddiel who (I think) didn't originally see the problem with Spurs fans using the word 'Yid'. His book 'Jews Don't Count' is a polemic in many ways but hits a few nails squarely on the head. I'd recommend reading it if you genuinely want to start to understand the issue. But you don't do you? You derive great satisfaction from telling victims of racism, albeit subtle, that they're not victims of racism but without any understanding of the relevant issues

You're just trolling and twisting yourselves into knots trying desperately not to be seen to be critical of the Blessed Jeremy or Mother Dianne. You're on a par with Liverpool fans in your cult-like devotion.
There’s a great educational pamphlet called “The Past Didn’t Go Anywhere” which I highly recommend. It’s a very quick and easily digestible read that breaks down the threat of institutionalized worldwide antisemitism, while deconstructing myths and examples of antisemitism relating to Zionism, Israel and Palestine, and ultimately offers suggestions on how to proceed. This, in turn, allows those—especially on the left—to properly discuss such issues without using antisemitic tropes and language that alienates Jews from the movement.

That's a really interesting read and fully illustrates the difficulties in this area.

It's OK to criticise Jews for actions or misdeeds, but not OK to do that on the grounds of their religion. I remember complaining about an article on Robert Maxwell (in the Daily Heil iirc - where else) which referred to him as Jewish a number of times. Maxwell did what he did because he was a bullying crook, not because he was Jewish. There's a lot of so-called "Christians" who aren't actually very christian but they never get called out.

Being critical of Israeli government actions is certainly not, in itself, antisemitic. Many Jews are critical. Being critical of its very existence does stray over the line in many cases. Being critical of Jews because of Israeli actions is antisemitic.

Zionism is not exclusively the ultra-right wing national supremacist movement it's often made out to be. It's a broad political movement that covers all political wings, left and right, and spans both ends of the religious divide, from the secular to the ultra-religious. But undoubtedly there are many Zionists who are ultra-right wing national supremacists. It gives them a platform to hide behind, just as being anti-Zionist gives antisemites a platform to hide behind.

Hating someone because of the colour of their skin is generally, but not always, black and white (no pun intended), but not always. By and large we're far more careful about the language we use around race. But not around Jews, where there's still a lot of tropes.
