The greatest sportsman EVER

Don't know if you can regard them as the greatest ever but based on my era I would go for: Mayweather, Messi and Federer. The reason being they are world class in their respective sports. People like these do not disappoint and you would pay the entry fee just to watch these alone.

In a similar vein to Max Woosnam, here's another multi achiever

Bill Shankland
Australian Rugby League Test player
Came to Warrington , where he captained to various trophies
Played golf when he retired from RL, he played in 19 consecutive Opens, where he achieved 3 top 3 finishes
Also a brilliant swimmer and boxer.
Also, raised over £1,000,000 for charity (and that's 50 odd years ago).

For me
Jack Nicklaus
Mal Meninga
Ellery Hanley
Brian Bevan (from stories my dad and grandad told me)

and personal heroes
Daley Thompson
Seve Ballesteros
Mike Gregory

It has to be Don Bradman, surely.
He would be worthy second to McCoy long way behind still though

Bradman by a country mile. He was better than his peers by a larger margin than any other sportsman in any sport from any era.

Naim Süleymanoğlu - World and Olympic Champion in weightlifting. He won three Olympic Championships, seven World Championships and six European Championships and earned 46 world records.

Alexander Karelin - won gold medals at the 1988, 1992 and 1996, as well as a silver in the 2000 Olympic Games.

I wouldn't trust a jockey just like I wouldn't trust an African dictator

The world of sport will never see anything as great as this again...
