The Hacienda - The Club That Shook The World - Sat BBC2 10.15pm - featuring me

By the way, I love it how loads of posters who I get on with on this forum were also from the same scene, and probably shared dance floors and bottles of water with, and I never even knew until this thread.
Mad isn't it?

Remember meeting up with a couple of posters from the BBC City forum on NYE in 2005 @ Tangled at The Phoenix on Oxford Road.

What a night that was. Walking home though Hulme at 5.30am completely off my head then not going to bed until the next night!

No way could I do anything like that now

Laurent Garnier, Jon Da Silva Mike Pickering were the best of the regular dj's.
I only got inat the arse end and the music was either hand bag or progressive, the place was dying on its arse when I started going to the club nights.
It's cultural relevance can't be understated. The sad part is that factory would not have gone bust, if it had released all the second wave of house stars that the clubs epiphany had influenced. How stuff like Sub Sub, K Klass and M People ended up on Robs Records and Deconstruction is a scandal. Literally, 2 of the main players in the whole Hacienda and Factory story were releasing stuff elsewhere.

I will watch the documentary. Peter Hook is full of shit, so I hope he's not in it. Seeing as ge owns the trademark and can't keep his gob shut, he will be plastered all over it.
There’s a documentary about Manchester’s clubbing scene called Manchester Keeps on Dancing.

Laurent Garnier is interviewed and he says, ‘This is what Manchester is all about: people come here because they know there’s been so many amazing artists here and there will be in the future because it’s in the genes of Manchester, you know? This is what makes Manchester very special, much more than a lot of other places in England. You go to London because you know it’s trendy and you know it’s happening; then you come here because it’s the roots of the whole thing. You know, for me it has, err, for me it has a stronger vibe because there’s no bullshit around, in Manchester it’s just the truth. And that’s why I like it here’.

I went once when I was 17 in 91, I think it was when the Noonans had the door. I thought it was shady as fuck and I was constantly in fear. You could sense that something could go off at anytime. I felt like Luke Skywalker in that bar at Mos Eisley. We fucked off after an hour, couldn't deal with it.

That's my Hacienda experience.

Will there be a caption on the screen saying “Didsbury Dave” when you’re on?
Paul from just outside Bury is actually accurate but didn’t make for a good user name back in 2007. In my defence, my nickname is Dave and I lived in Didsbury at the time. I now live in Yorkshire and have also lived in london and Berkshire to make it even more complicated.

So no, you won’t see Didsbury Dave at all. It’s Paul.
