The HALLOWEENATHON - What HORROR movie(s) are you watching?

I’ve just put Saint Maud on to kick it off.

Saint Maud is a slow burn with an ending that really punches hard, a directorial debut film from the British filmmaker Rose Glass who followed it up with the brilliant Love Lies Bleeding (2024)

Hallowe’en is an ancient Brittonic and Gaelic festival where people would remember the dead in their families as this was the night they felt closest to the dead and the afterlife.

It was also the start of their new year.
It's a bastardisation of Samhain and Walpurgis Night, that was combined by Irish American communities in the 18th Century. Jack O'Lanterns are because they were plentiful and easier to carve.

One thing is for certain it is definitely not English or Germanic in origin, who had something similar named Blotmonath, in which people would sacrifice on bonfires. People celebrating 'Hallowe'en' but doing nothing to honour All Saints Day and All Souls Day...

It's American, boo.

Looks like there's shag- all worth watching on telly tonight horror-wise ... So I'm going for a Lucio Fulci binge out of my personal collection!
