The Harry and Meghan fuss

I watched the Netflix series and was left conflicted. I am not going to play the blame game as I feel like there were faults on Harry and Meghan side and on the 'establishment'. The overwhelming impression I got is that they (H and M) are one of the small number of brave souls who take on the poisonous media in this country. If there are villains in this sorry story, surely it is they. As long as they operate as they do the UK will not heal.

Misogyny there fella, some women even young ones like cars. The boxing of demographics in this place is staggering.

Yes it's misogynist to say young women are less likely to watch car shows despite market share analysis showing that's exactly the case. How silly of me.

which 'young women' demographic/analysis are you citing... in general, or among female fans of motorsport/car shows/quilting docs?

Check them.out.

I have always liked Clarkson, as I'm a bit of a petrolhead myself. His political stance never troubled me, his none PC comments went straight over my head, or I admit I smirked a little. I watched him for car related content, his reviews are entertaining and informative. He's a fucking brilliant motoring journalist and writer. Him and willman transformed top gear.
But, he's let himself down with those comments. I can't believe he actually typed that shit.
It's one thing being edgy, quite another to be blatantly hoping a fellow human gets dragged through the streets naked.
He needs help.
I always gave him the benefit of doubt, but not now, he's crossed the line and showed his true colours.

Google is your friend. Cant find stats for grand tour that are easily available and free, Top Gear at least 60 % men in the period that Clarkson presented and 80% Top Gear Magazine online.

Now bore off.

It's the media mate, it's like a bloody competion who can be the most outspoken. If he met her at a party he would be typically British in his manners.

I don't actually believe he wants her to walk naked down the street with shame ringing in her ears.

Plus he's not paddy mcguiness(sp) which is a bonus.

When I said anything at all, I'll clarify by saying I don't mean become a basketball star or Wall Street tycoon. But he could have sold rights to a reality TV show without "dishing the dirt" on his family. They'd have still made millions and it would have attracted viewers, because as you say he's royalty. But they're "dishing dirt" precisely because there's ill-feeling. And that ill-feeling must exist for a reason.
If he had signed up for a reality TV show, what exactly would he offer that would be so exciting so as to net him hundreds of millions of dollars from a load of hard nosed TV executives?

An expose about which particular parlour games the Royal Family play on Christmas Day? The best way to open a leisure centre in Nottingham? I suppose he could have explained why he dressed up in that Nazi uniform or routinely called his army colleague a disgusting racist name, but I’m not sure he’d be that keen to talk about that.

I’ll admit that Markle’s podcast deal netted them a chunk of money and it appeared to contain relatively little dishing of the dirt. But we can’t be entirely sure about as the series was essentially a load of incomprehensible guff, and the ratings were horrendous. So that money would have dried up soon enough and given that they seem to have quite expensive tastes in terms of where and how they live - a modest, rent free cottage in Kensington certainly wasn’t good enough for them - they simply needed to make a load of money.

He could also have produced an interesting series for someone like the BBC, talking about press intrusion and discussing how his wife was treated in more detail. I think that could actually have been good, stimulating a proper debate in the country and I would likely have watched it. But again that wouldn’t make the dough, so he’s gone for slagging off his family and dishing up all the harrowing details about how his brother shouting at him once left him emotionally scarred for life.
