The Harry and Meghan fuss

If that’s the biggest discrepancy they can come up with, it’s pretty desperate stuff. It’s not a mistake I reckon I would make but that’s because my mates are always telling me I have a photographic memory. Plenty of others don’t though and over the course of a couple of decades, things will become blurred for many.
Who said it was the best they can come up with? I'm not even saying they are involved.
I said that it could be way to cast doubt on his version of events without officially responding.
He also said Meg paid for first class tickets for her dad on New Zealand airways.
New Zealand Airways have just responded by saying there is no first class tickets as stated in the book.
Are New Zealand Airways in league with the Royal family now?

I'm sure people will be digging to find more errors.
That doesn't mean he isn't telling some truths. I can well believe a lot did happen.
I question what he thinks he will get out of this.

Funnily enough none of the "fact checkers" have mentioned this part of the book.

This is such a classic example of why the debate around H+M is so unbearable.

Does it actually matter if he misremembered the exact airline?

Does it matter if Air NZ only do Economy, Business and Business Premier, not first class?

If you were listening to someone tell this story about how his wife had to tell her dad to pack up and fly home because she just got engaged to a prince and the media are going to be on his doorstep, would you tell them that you thought every story they ever told was bullshit and unreliable because an inconsequential detail like the specific name of the class of seat was slightly off?

No, and if you did, everyone would think you're a massive bellend.

But because it's this bullshit about Royals, there's an army of tabloid hacks combing through every word to try and find a tiny continuity error to convince their readers that all the bad things in the book are wrong because after all how can you trust someone who mixed up first class and "business premier" class?

I'm happy to take the entire book with a pinch of salt as harmless semi-factual entertainment. However, if people are going to try and hold it up as some sort of great revelation of the truth then it should all be held to that high standard/scrutiny - not just the bits that suit.

No, no, no.

This is exactly the dishonest bullshit I'm talking about. Why would anyone with more than a singe braincell think that misremembering what airline you almost used means your recollection of major life events between your brother and you or your parents can't be relied upon?

It's so pathetically desperate, and it's a standard to which if any autobiography or memoir or historical record were held to, we'd have no written history of anything further back than last year.

It's the weakest, flimsiest, most tragic attempt to discredit someone, and you lap it up.

Because it's indicative of a propensity to bullshit - much like his convenient caveat about only being able to recall things and places rather than dialogue. Again, he seems to remember every word of a historical conversation when it suits.
Tbf though, this is a commercial enterprise written through that lens by a ghost writer, who probably also wrote that convenient caveat.

He doesn't claim that, you just made that up. He goes out of his way to stipulate that the contents of the book are not verbatim recollections.

And applying your own standards, as you got that wrong, you have a propensity to bullshit and no one should ever pay attention to anything you ever write.

No, people jumping on this book like it's a revelation of the truth are effectively claiming that. The little caveat about only recalling places and things get harry and his biographer off the hook.
I don't think this is terrible or unusual - approved biographies written while the subject is still alive will always present them in a favourable light rather than try to get to the truth.

I find it amusing that the same people who complain about Harry and his wife making money off their own name and experiences never criticize the same press making an equal amount or maybe even more many from Harry and Meghan’s name and experiences….

Tbh the low esteem in which our gutter press are held can probably be taken for granted.
