Surely it would be secateurs you’d take to a Rose?

Very good.

Although it must have been pretty worrying for Rose, who is no intellectual giant, when Pochettino and Levy knocked on his door in the middle of the night.

Apparently Rose explained to Levy and Poch that he thought that they did not want Spurs to win anything because then they would have to pay bonuses.

I think at that point, it was decided that Rose is too stupid to play for Spurs.

They slowly improve? You were where last season compared to now? You don’t improve at all, you stand still then spout bollocks about net spend compared to everyone else.
For all your ‘improvements ‘ you’ve won the sum total of fuck all.

Before the season started, most predictions had Spurs struggling to stay in the top 6 - let alone the top 4 - because of the move to Wembley. In fact, many people were predicting that Spurs would plunge to mid table. There were even predictions that Spurs would face a relegation fight! In the circumstances, then, to be 8 points clear of 5th; still very much in with a shout of 2nd; and with only 4 points fewer than after the same number of games as last season is something of an achievement. The fact that Spurs aren't in a title fight this season owes far more to City's excellence than it does to any regression on Spurs' part.

It's also undeniable that Spurs' performance in the Champions League this season was a massive improvement on last season - though it would have been difficult to have got worse, to be honest!

Hi JimB, do you think you could squeeze more out of your current squad or are they doing as good as could be expected now?

Hmm that sounds exaggerated to me, who seriously predicted that Spurs would be in a relegation fight? And posts on Arsenal forums don't count.

Think he mixed up the 'predictions for the season' and 'wishes for the season' threads. The rags and dippers being the other two teams going down should have been a big hint.

I don't think anyone took such predictions seriously but I definitely saw them. Can't remember where.

But given that Spurs were universally predicted to struggle at Wembley, there's no question that, barring a late season collapse, they have exceeded expectations this season. That might not equate to an improvement, exactly, but I'll take it!

Who the hell predicted any of that? In fact i'm sure most journalists had you in the top 4 and some to even win it this year.

Anyway my point is simple, unless Levy loosens the purse strings regarding wages the players will be off, especially now they know he earns more than them!! You need to pay them what they can earn AND win things elsewhere or why would they stay? This is the best opportunity for you with your current squad, miss out now and that'll be back to the drawing board for you.

I had them finishing second at the start of the year and running us all the way , the fact we are 20 points clear of them and they are below the expectations point wise to date the club had for them suggests its only just a pass mark for them this year.

They had a great opportunity to reach the last 8 in the Chumps League and blew it and meekly went out of the league cup.

They had better reach the FA Cup final otherwise it will be a failure for them this season even by most of their most pessimistic supporters expectations.

The more experts from the Old Skool clubs most threatened by Spurs' improvement like Henry, Keown, Wright, Smith, Neville, Carragher, Merson, Thompson, Owen, Rio, Saunders, Quinn tell Spurs that they need to change the way they are doing this, the more I think Spurs have got it right.

Why does everyone want Spurs to spend £200,000 per week on players? Is Alderweireld worth it? He is good, he can head the ball, block a shot but £200,000 week? I rather have the £50m fee and find another Eriksen or Son for £15m.

Success for Spurs is playing in the Champions League not winning it. Spurs' income and resources is a fraction of what is available to City, United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. Spurs' success should not be judged against those English clubs with that level of fabulous wealth.

(Oh please don't start with Joe Lewis is a billionaire)

Fucking hell, didn't realise I'd slept for 8 months, must have hit my head on the way to bed on April 3rd. How did we get on in last season's CL? Who won the World Cup?
