There's a certain poster that's a bit Foggy and lives in San Francisco that fairly emotional about me. I'll tell you why:
About a 18 months to 24 months ago, we had a discussion about kids and how they learn. He was of the notion to tell his kid what to think and I simply said 'isn't it better to lay out the facts on both sides and let them come to a conclusion?' and that he would, probably, come around to his way of thinking with facts involved.
The guy flips out and says I'm trying to tell him how raise his kid. His tirade has been in evidence ever since.
Just before term started, this year, my son and I were in deep discussion about religion. I tod him where I stood, explained about the alternative religions available, mainstream and told him think it all through, including not believing any of it.
His RE teacher spoke to me about how fascinating my son was as he stretched the boundaries, for his age, on what Belief/ Faith meant to him. All kids deserve to make up their own minds on life, given a certain age. My kid was 11, pretty sure his kid was older.
Didn't think I was wrong on saying to be expansive with a child, but hey ho...
