I realise it's cynical, I realise the circumstances are not the same. But this is reminiscent of the SDP - who were at 50% in polling soon after creation. Two years later....well.
They only need support long enough to sort out the Brexit mess that May and Corbyn appear to be unable to do.

Take no deal off the table then either revoke A50 with a plan for the consequences or get an extension with a view to getting a WA that won’t fuck up the country and cause a break up of the UK.

A) it's hardly the majority view, no matter how passionately people who adhere to it might believe it

B) they are a Parliamentary irrelevance

Agree they are currently a parliamentary irrelevance while there are 8 of them. They can only achieve anything if another 250 MPs follow suit, which I don’t believe stands a chance of happening unless there is a very clear indication of widespread support from the population.

THE fledgling party started by breakaway Labour MPs has suffered a financial blow, after it emerged it will not be eligible for public money given to other opposition parties.

The Independent Group, which hopes to evolve into a new party within months, had been expected to qualify for hundreds of thousands of pounds in ‘short money’.

However the House of Commons has confirmed that short money is not available “to a new political party, if it was established in the middle of parliament”.
