The Jo supporters have gone quiet...

A loss of confidence is one thing but a lack of basic skill is another. Jo jogged around and fell over a lot on Saturday. He was awol most of the time.

I would love to know what it is about him that inspires such blind faith. Every football writer rates him poorly. Hughes clearly doesn't rate him. And it's not personal. He's probably a great lad. But he wouldn't get a regular start in any Premiership side, because he isn't good enough. And its no use citing his scoring record in Russia because that's a lower standard of football.

Fair enough. As has been previously pointed out, Hughes fielded the same team as most fans would have picked.

and expect it to work straight away. anyone who has played football can understand that you need to play a run of games to get to your best. you cannot just lumo some players together who havent played together for ages and say "go and do the business".

FWIW with elano on the pitch we played ALOT better and created more chances than we do when he is on the bench

what does this say about Hughes though? to me it is starting to speak volumes that he cant win with any fucking system or selection. he is continuously tinkering and switching the team around. I cannot believe i am sighting these teams as example but Fulham, Bolton and Villa pick a settled team. Its a no wonder that all 3 rarely get beat, well they dont get beaten as much as us.

If I was Mark Hughes, I would demand to see video footage of Jo to make sure we actually got the right player when we paid the ludicrous 19 million for him.

I am sorry but how did he score so many goals in the Russian league? Yes, I know it's "just" the Russian league and it can't compare to the Premier League really, but still, I would assume it takes some kind of skill, pace and strength to play in the Russian league.

When Jo plays for us he looks like he's only been playing football for the first time ever 4 months ago, it is awful.

I know his confidence is low and all, but from a player that you paid 19 million for, you are allowed to expect more I would assume.

Give the boy a chance and you will see a new Shaun Goater. We have been patient enough over the years so whats a few months for this young lad.

Was an improvement on Benjani on the weekend IMO.

But are we judging him on that 45 minutes of football now?

you have got to be joking....i normally respect your opinion but he was terrible; an absolute embarassment!!!

couldnt control a ball. constantly knocked off the ball and looking for fouls which werent there, no running, won very few headers and missed a very good chance from a swp corner.....he offered absolutely nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im still here dipshit, and maybe if you gave the lad a chance to prove himself instead of getting on his back at every opportunity the lad would get a bit of confidence. Pisses me off you tossers who seemingly have to pick one of our new signings (usually the youngest) and get on their back from day one and never give them a chance.

i didnt here anyone gettign on his back at the game but im not saying it didnt happen.....but on here it is about opinion and he was down right awful when he came on...

An improvement on Benjani in the first 45 minutes is no great achievement, and I don't think he played all that well. But he did win balls in the air, and did hold up the ball as well as you could expect given the delivery to him. But it was more a commentary on how ineffective Benjani was, and I'd be pretty confident we would have been 1 up if it was Jo through on goal instead of Benjani in the first half.

I take on board what people are saying about his control on saturday, but I put that down to confidence. Earlier in the season I saw a player with some terrific ball control, good movement (much better than Benjani's), and an understanding of the players around him.

Let him settle down, and give him some support. He'll turn out alright.

i think he will come gd but people just need to get off his back, but i think he can lack presence so i think we should put him on the steven ireland martial arts course it would do him the world of gd look what it did for ireland
