The "Just got back" from Barnsley thread..

Cheers lads, nice to hear it from a City viewpoint rather from those cretins on SSN. Was hoping the darts song would get going..... hopefully it'll catch on later. Hate that elephant song, I know its a laugh but whats that got to do with City and football ?

Not a great result considering the strength of the team but I suppose its all about fitness levels at the mo.

What have SSN said?

top day, good to see the lads again after a couple of months...
cant wait to see tevez link up with up ireland, robbie and adebayor...
they just seem to try and walk it in the net, swp looked lost today aswell... does anyone know why there was mixed views from barnsley fans when one of thier subs come on, not sure of his name think it was ian hulme??

Oh yeah, and the people singing "we're gonna win the league" should probably wait a few months before they sing that again. These aren't new City fans either, some were familiar faces. I'm sure our Rag fans will like to remind us about that song later on if it starts getting popular. Some of the new songs were great but this song really leaves us open to attack and future hubris.

I couldn't believe it when people started singing that.

A few songs about the rags, and i heard the first verse of the M***** song.

Good performance, at times we tried to walk it in the net.

Took my 3 year old son for the first time and he enjoyed the atmosphere and joined in "We've got Robinho" and "Come on City". I thought we played some decent stuff but could have more shots from outside the area.

Defence looked solid with Toure doing most of the organising. Garrido & Pab Zab both did well attacking down the flanks. Toure, Richards & Nedum are all BIG guys

In midfield Ireland looked good. he seems to do something subtly brilliant everytime he's on the ball - either a great pass, a shimmy or a stepover. Nige was good at breaking up play and keeping the ball moving. SWP seemed to have 3 players surrounding him everytime he got the ball but he never stops trying. Robinho was Robinho (lol how he ended up at city is still a mystery).

Bellamy & Ade were both full of running and dangerous especially in the 2nd half. I was especially impressed with Ade as he seemed to turn up all over the pitch and he'd either lay it off and move towards the box or turn and run towards the box. not the lazy disinterested performance that we were told to expect.

The interaction between the front five (SI, Robi, SWP, Ade and Bellers) was good and fluid.

Of the subs Petrov and Zabba were direct as you'd expect and both dangerous at times. Weiss suffered with the same problems as SWP. inside of TBH there is a decent player but he just seems to cost us a goal everytime he plays.

I think if Barry had been fit we'd possibly see a 433 with SWP being odd man out.

highlight was spotting de niro. I almost touched him. he's the most famous person i've ever seen

Got back an hour or so ago,

Pre Match - one of the most random pre-match drinks I've ever had. In the Barnsley Metrodome (I think it was called). The police wouldn't let anyone with a City shirt on to have a drink in the town centre so we were all escorted to the Metrodome, which is basically a sports centre. Had a bar and some burgers in there and SSN projected onto the wall so that was ok!

The Match - Firstly Stevie Ireland was the best player on the pitch today by some distance. He is one of the few City players who has the right body position when he collects the ball and he can do things/see things much quicker than anyone else. I get more impressed with him every time I see him. Adebayor showed some good touches but in the first half seemed to drift out wide too often. Hughes must have said something at half time because Bellamy did more of the runs in the channel second half (which he did very well) and Adebayor stayed central. The other plus point was Zabaleta when he came on. I think he is vital to City, played left and right back today, looked classy and provided a threat going forward. I'm not going to dwell on the negatives, leave that for when the season starts!

All in all a decent performance with a good turn out from travelling fans. Shame about the Adebayor song not getting started!

Doesn't surprise me, the fact that we have all these great players and the real prospect of success will be lost in their small minded moronic world.
