Also - what was unique about 'The Kippax' is it was along the side. No other club had that. We should carry that on. If the East Stand was renamed 'The Kippax' it would give us something no one else has. I'd put safe standing all along the bottom tier of the east stand and rename it.

Think you'll find Burnley, Birmingham City, Derby, Swansea, Cardiff to name a few had their main" ends" on the side. But the Kippax was the daddy of them all.
Should have called the west stand the Stretford End pissed the rags off royally.

Anyone remember the size of the East Terrace that Charlton once had at The Valley back in the day, ran down the side like old Kippax without roof, it was fuckin huge, held more than a lot of other grounds entire capacities !

I'm not one for renaming it the Kippax, but I'm not sure the East stand 'captures the imagination of modern fans around the globe'? Either.

I'd happily have it renamed the Pep Guardiola stand though.

Rename ESL1 The Kippax with safe standing from 101-111.

Totally. 100% agree with that. It would be quality. The name and the safe standing would bring in the hard-core fans and the songs would spread well around the ground. Everyone on TV also seeing the bottom layer standing and singing throughout the match would be great too.

I always thought it was named after the bloke who built the roof came from a small town outside Halifax ;)

Yep, it was the Kippax Street Stand from being roofed up to being knocked down in 1994.

Then the seated one was officially "The New Kippax" for a couple of years, and then just "The Kippax Stand".

I know we all just said the Kippax. But those are the club facts, rather than what we say ;)

Tottenham had "The Shelf". Similar, along one side of the pitch like The Kippax. Ended up in there once. Kept my mouth firmly shut.
The North Stand should be the new Kippax (ie pissed up singing section) but it'll never happen. The club haven't helped.
