The Kippax

What a stand!
Nothing like it.
Where Else would they put thousands of opposing fans separated by a single line of plod?
Oh the memories.
Aerial bombardments of Bottles of piss, darts, coins.
You staked a claim on your place and that was yours for evermore.
You’re surrounded
You’re surrounded
You’re surrounded
You’re surrounded

That banner at the bottom was Coopers if I remember. Said he snook in a few kids rolled up in it
Incorrect and correct.
The banner was bought with proceeds from the Blue Print fanzine.
It was kept at Frank Newton's house and I would pick it up in my Ford Escort MK3 estate. I would park in the Kippax car park and then plead / beg fellow Blues to help carry it in. Needed at least 6 or 7. And yes each time we got to the turnstiles we opened it up a little and a small kid would be wrapped in it and then we would pass it through snake like over the turnstiles.

If we won it was never an issue getting it back to the car but if we lost very few wanted to know.
It usually cost about £100 to repair each time we used it due to the odd little tear here and there.
The picture here was from the last Kippax game. We wanted to bring it out for the grand opening of the new Kippax but the club said no as it didn't have a fire safety certificate.......
It rotted away in Frank's cellar and eventually he tossed it in a skip

Shame I was at that time either in the North Stand or the open corner can't remember which but I did end up under it in the Kippax one match..... fantastic banner but stank of God knows what when it was overhead.

Not me but my knees and back in winter are.

I'm great in the warmth on the golf course but walking downstairs first thing in the morning at home in winter is another matter sadly.

This bloody getting on lark is a pain in most parts of the body.
I'd definitely be up to standing back on the Kippax for an autumn match though. :-)
