The Kippax

Incorrect and correct.
The banner was bought with proceeds from the Blue Print fanzine.
It was kept at Frank Newton's house and I would pick it up in my Ford Escort MK3 estate. I would park in the Kippax car park and then plead / beg fellow Blues to help carry it in. Needed at least 6 or 7. And yes each time we got to the turnstiles we opened it up a little and a small kid would be wrapped in it and then we would pass it through snake like over the turnstiles.

If we won it was never an issue getting it back to the car but if we lost very few wanted to know.
It usually cost about £100 to repair each time we used it due to the odd little tear here and there.
The picture here was from the last Kippax game. We wanted to bring it out for the grand opening of the new Kippax but the club said no as it didn't have a fire safety certificate.......
It rotted away in Frank's cellar and eventually he tossed it in a skip
I stand corrected, Mad eye, I'll pull him.He was behind the Madchester one. Thought it was funny as fuck at the time. I did it on MS Paint for a derby

Edit: Matty the mod from here complained that he couldnt see the other end of the pitch as it was dangling. Top banner.

P.S. Matty is fuckin sound, it was a Bluewatch/Bluemoon at the time

Walking through that tunnel, with the pitch expanding in front of you. Fantastic, emotional memories. I remember the night of the 4-0 game in the League Cup against utd, the night of Colin's injury. It was bedlam on there, segregation was non existent. There were utd fans everywhere in the Kippax that night

my dad used to put me just above the 1152 sign on the left sided tunnel, safe from all the crushes. he was a few of steps up behind a rail. good times.

One of my earliest memories as a kid was being passed down over everyone's heads when I was ill. My Dad just sent me off from half way up the stand. I ended up sitting pitchside with a cup of Bovril.
Another one was coming back home from Canada and sitting in the Maine stand looking across at an empty Kippax wondering what the fuck was going on.

How great was it before the club stopped banners off the 2nd tier, in favour of advertising

I used to watch matcbes from the Kippax, roughly a third of the way along from the Platt Lane away fans pen. ( Just far enough away so that when missiles were thrown I was unlikely to be hit!)
This particular day, a sunny day, I was watching City vs Luton Town.
A point was all that was needed for us to stay in Div.1.
The match had been really dull, so bloody dull I can't describe and appeared to be petering out into a scoreless draw.
With only a handful of minutes left I could take no more of this terrible torture and decided to leave. (I wasn't on my own.)
So I had just walked out of one of the pedestrian tunnels when a loud noise, a peculiar groaning sound mingled in with

Loads of great memories on the kippax, one of the best when my mate decided to bring his new, quite posh & timid girlfriend to the Charlton promotion game,
She had never been to a football game before & as we all squeezed onto the packed kippax my mate turned to me and said do you think she will be alright? yea I said everything will be fine untill we score,
They both disapeared in the absolute madness after the first goal & reapeared after the 5th goal looking like they had been in a washing machine, but they were both smiling & city had a new female fan.

Around 1977 after a midweek night game had an unforgettable experience in the Kippax car park in my Ford Anglia with a local lady and a window squeegee wiper.
