kolarov is not a bad defender, but it gets difficult for him at times because david silva doesnt help him out. that's all it is folks . we must move david silva to the center and free him of defensive duties.

I'd be happy with started by telling him never to take a corner ever again.

When Silva does try to defend, he usually makes a shocking foul, but gets away with yellow at worst due to his size and reputation. I love Spanish Dave, but always hate seeing him try to defend anywhere near the City box.

This would be solved by playing an extra man in midfield - the West Ham game showed that 2 strikers does not equal goals and when you're being pressed it doesn't do anything but hamper us and cause problems. Stick Milner on the left and Silva doesn't need to worry a thing about defending. Even Kolarov in front of Clichy on the left is a potential option over Milner. Any of these options allows Clichy to focus on defending and not trying to get forward when he can.

The 2 striker option for me is one of the biggest flaws in Pellegrini's way of getting us playing but only because he is adament at playing it no matter what and sometimes I'm afraid you have to just consider the alternatives. It's not about giving respect to the opposition but respecting their way of playing and setting us up to win. West Ham, Roma, CSKA were all games we should of won and I'm certain we didn't because we completely underestimated or even completely ignored the opposition's way of playing.

Our back four are currently taking turns in having a fuckin' nightmare game. Mangala, and Clichy have passed the test for cock-ups with honours. Somebody tonight, mark my words and get down the bookies, will make a once in a contract-moment bollock-drop!

Whoever plays behind Silva will be a 'bad defender'. That's just a bi product of an unbelievably talented playmaker and 4-4-2.

Kolarov is just a bad defender regardless of who he plays behind.

When the going gets tough this fraud goes walkabout, hardman my arse.

We have needed a left back for a good while,we are now becoming desperate.

How that penalty wasn't awarded against him tonight (and a probable red card as well), fuck knows. It was nailed on; if that had happened at the other end, the agendanistas on here would have all spontaneously combusted.

agreed!!! it was a clean pk .

At least it was a 3 year deal. Seriously we have messed around with the defence far too often and Kolarov looks far too rusty.

I thought he took the ball watching it live. I was 100% sure about it, only at replays I saw what happened.

Kolarov was a little rusty last night against Newcastle, which is understandable due to his lack of gametime this season.

Kolarov still offers far more than Clichy for me. Kolarov is far better going forward with a really good cross, he's stronger and more aggressive. I also think he has more of a winning mentality than Clichy, which could be very important in the next few games.

The back four we started against Chelsea is our best one - Zabaleta, Kompany, Mangala and Kolarov.

I think it was the best display by our back four (the Chelsea game), but I do think that Mangala, although he has talent has gone backwards since his mistakes at Hull, and against West Ham. I think last season defence would be better for the next few games. Put DeMichelis next to Vinny, unless Pellegrini relents and plays the 2 Ferns together in a 4-2-3-1. We need clean sheets first and foremost now, The goals will come if we play Silva (if fit), Yaya and Aguero along with Milner and anyone of Navas, Nasri or Jovetic to make up the 3 supporting players to Aguero.

Just switch to 4-3-3 please. Fuck all defenders can do with this 442 shit. Kolarov is rusty? All our players are rusty it seems. Is Mark Hughes our coach now? Shipping goals for fun and not scoring enough.

He waits for play to unfold before deciding whether to run back or not. Its shocking to see him at the center line when players are running from his side.

My first game was in 1971, so let me see.

At a rough count and in no particular order. (and yes I know that these are only the regulars)

Donachie, Power, Macdonald, Wilson, Hinchcliffe, Pointon, Phelan, Vaughan, Tiatto, Jensen, Tarnat, Jordan, Ball,

How many Premier League Winner medals between them?

Kolarov and Clichy?
