So why are so many people complaining about losing winter fuel payments if they're better off without a personal / occupational pension or owning a house? Is all this free stuff not making them happy?And it's going to get worse, you are better off not working and not having any savings or a Private or Company pension scheme or owning a house, you would get your Rent and council tax paid along with free care in old age, it's a joke
The reality is that most people with savings and company pensions take them to the grave, after living a long and happy retirement, even if SKI-ing (spending the kids' inheritance).
The main issues are the gamble that you won't need social care, and that this generation of pensioners (as a whole) may be the most affluent in history. Current average pensioner income is £20k p.a. but that is partly because of final salary occupational pensions that are not now available.

Just seen Starmer getting dogs abuse in Southport, this has shades of Dunblane to me, that was a turning point for gun ownership in the uk. Coming down on knives could be a huge thing now for the government and hopefully a turning point in this country, it’s clearly way out of control.
