The Labour Government

I absolutely guarantee they will be a 'crackdown on knives'. Whether it has any practical effect is another matter.

We all have 6-7 potentially lethal knives in our kitchen, and there's nothing to stop a loon taking them out of the house.

I would like to see more of those arch things used. There was one in Piccadilly Gardens the other month, although the copper, seeing my grey hairs, waved me around it. I'd be happy to walk through one every day if it contributed to saving young lives, but I have no idea how effective it would really be.
Just discussing this with the boss. There has to be a crackdown (no idea myself what that would look like), but if it cannot be enforced, then we are no better off.

Personally think that we may have gone past the point of return in eradicating knife crime on our streets.

A fast solution is needed, that's for sure.

Be interesting to see how the Government think we are going to actually build 370000 homes a year over five years with half affordable. It's alright having targets, we have had these before, but there will be plenty of hurdles to overcome to achieve anywhere near this level.

Funding will be a major issue for the social housing and the required infrastructure. I had a meeting with a fella who works at a strategic land company yesterday. He told me there was social housing in the south east that had been built but none of the local social housing companies had the funds to actually run these properties, so they sit empty. I was gobsmacked.

Funding for private housebuyers is nearly entirely dependent on affordable mortgages. So Reeves will need to instruct Bailey to drop interest rates as a starter. The housebuilding industry has been working way below capacity for over a year as new houses aren't selling.

Their is also a massive skill shortage in the construction industry, which wont be filled over night.

So nearly a month in and we are already probably 20- 25k houses behind the Governments target.

They gave no clue as to how the target would be reached. Just an empty slogan.
Here are some others: (not necessarily lab this time round.)
We will stop the boats.
We will reduce inflation.
We will reduce unemployment.
We will reduce hospital waiting times.
Etc etc.
All parties do this sort of thing, the wonder is that some people buy it.

I said in the run up to the election it was a choice between shit (Labour) and shitter (Conservative)

We've now, unsurprisingly, got shit...

New houses not selling, maybe they are massively overpriced, houses have gone up in value to to lack of them, supply and demand, greedy house builders, building shite and charging the earth, I’d never buy a new build ever again.
