It's not quite that simple I'm affraid. House builders have a cost base, below which they won't make money. Trust me they would lower prices if they could and sell more. I know of several companies that have gone bust the past 18mths. That wasn't through choice.
Mate houses in Oldham going up for £300k plus! Not selling in one if the poorest areas of the NW, only ones getting them are companies to rent out at ridiculous prices.
That's the problem. Cost to build including a margin doesn't relate to peoples affordability. Not sure how any governemnt is going to square that circle
