There is a problem with this, my mother is in her 90s and lives reasonably independently but struggles to complete paperwork due to eyesight and early stage dementia. She is OK as both my brother and myself can help her. But if she didnt have us, she would really have nobody. How does that work ?Totally lost the point of why pensioners don't like claiming cash and would rather freeze than claim but also lost the point about people saving money.
No one will save now and will claim everything they can.
Potentially those who are very elderly are going to miss out and not know about it until they cant pay their bills. Its fine for those in their 60s and 70s to say, oh people just need to claim but some wont know or be capable to do it.

Figures are out of date. Maximum state pension is £221.20.
