It goes back decades, not just the last 14 years. In the days of cash, you'd see lines of pensioners queing up in the morning outside post offices waiting for them to open because they didn't have a penny in their pockets and it was pension day.Why are there so many poor pensioners after 14 years of Tory rule?
I remember my grandmother telling me in the late 60's the pension was barely enough to live on.
We've always been mean as a country to our elders, and that position hasn't changed over the last 60 years or so. Labour and tory governments have both been happy to let that status quo continue.
