£27k for ops staff and £32k for drivers. This is at a London council. 36 hours per week

Plumbers are grossly overpaid, just saying. But they still don't get to be earning £150k a year with a brilliant pension as they get more senior. Just saying.

Sadly, that's the market. To be fair to plumbers, they need to be trained and accredited.

Where I live in London, labourers are charging c£200 per day. Painters/decorators a tad more.

So their employers are paying a wage they can live on and the tax payer isn't subsidising that? If so isn't that the proverbial "make work pay"?
