The Labour Government

I think you're right about social media. All of us will be seeing complete lies about all the political parties on a regular basis, and the truth gets lost in the noise.

Say what you like about the much hated "MSM", but the conspiracy theorists, grifters, opportunists, and outright liars who help corral more and more people into echo chambers, are much, much worse.

You used to see it on the far left and far right, where groups splinter, and would have a vitriolic hate of people with only slightly different views to their own. Now, it's so easy to find your "tribe" online, that it's spreading much wider across the political spectrum.

I think the nearly 50% of young people who said that they'd rather the internet didn't exist, have the right idea.

It's not without it's flaws, but the book The Anxious Generation should be given to every parent of a new born before they leave the maternity ward. Actually maybe not that soon cause it'll just depress them at a time when they need all the energy and optimism they can get; maybe before their child is 18 months old or something.

the nobs on here won't like that .....funny as fuck.

Most of them would kill off pensioners wanting a decent retirement rather than give them 200 notes to help keep warm.

or call them thick cunts for not earning more during their working life.
As we run out of money as a nation anyone getting anything for 'free' is becoming a scapegoat. You are probably the last generation that will get a state pension in the current form.
Sadly, we have as a nation missed many chances to shore up the countries wealth - north sea oil, council house sell off, privatisation of everything for short term gain and the transfer of wealth and capital to individuals. I seem to remember the post cold war and northern Ireland 'peace dividend' was going to fund the welfare state and NHS for generations, but we gave that money to the defence industry to fund our 21st century middle east adventures instead.
Sadly, as a nation, we've sold off the family silver, downsized and even got rid of the tat on eBay. There is nothing left but squabbling over the crumbs.

1. Human beings are imperfect creatures, without exception. Even the best of us has hurt someone at some point, one way or another.

2. Power tends to corrupt. Humans who are completely free from corruption are as rare as hens' teeth. Such paragons tend also to be very difficult to live with, as their standards are so elevated. They would be unlikely to secure election.

Here's a small test. Imagine you had complete power to allocate City's tickets for a cup final. No questions asked. Are you absolutely sure you wouldn't favour your family, mates, people who offered you money, or those who might be able to do something for you in return? If so, give HH the Pope a ring, as you may just qualify for sainthood.

Should we not expect our law makers to be an above us mere mortals? Policy should be driven by the good of the nation not helping a few mates out, we’ve done nowt but complain about “helping out their mates” for the best part of a decade if not longer.

I doubt anyone enters politics with anything other than pure intent, as you say power tends to corrupt.

Perhaps the answer is not to give any of them too much power by giving them thumping parliamentary majorities for getting less than 40% of those bothering to turn out to vote?

We appear to have no balance in our media coverage anymore. It was never that balanced but now it is totally partisan. Today's target has been Sadiq Khan who today has been knighted but certain section of our press have chosen to attack it as a reward for failure. Whatever one's views of his performance we again have treble standards. I did not see the same outlets questioning the award of a knighthood to that well known failure Grant Shapps or whatever name he is currently using.

You can expect what you like, but in practical reality, you need checks and balances, which are singularly lacking in this country. Along with a proper constitution and a modern voting system. What we have (irrespective of the party in power) is an elected dictatorship. The trouble is, most people only notice when it isn't 'their' dictatorship in power.

I'm afraid many people would love an arbitrary dictatorship, as long as it was their arbitrary dictatorship. That's what I find really scary.

You’re happy with asylum seekers getting benefits then?

My position is that it should be means tested, but if you think that benefits are rights, it should be ok across the board for you?

Also, should Child Benefit Allowance for free nursery hours be a right? It’s currently capped at £100k and below?

presumably those same people think a man who bankrupted his business owing HMRC £1m and him and his wife been barred from being a business director and who also beat a WPC up so badly it ended her career is a suitable Mayor.
Oh did I mention he is an unhinged fantasist who lives in Dubai too?

Note he has trouble with words/ spelling. Should be disposal not deposal. Not being pedantic but merely showing what a thick c*** he is

Perhaps they can have a uniform. Black shirts for this sort of thing are all the rage I hear.

So it's a right then. Stop being pedantic

If you qualify, you have the right to claim it. I'm stating that arguing about rich pensioners qualifying is pointless. If they want to keep it or donate it, it's their choice. Fact is they qualify and it's nobody else's business but theirs.
The whole debate has been about Parliament deciding most pensioners didn't qualify. So by your argument they no longer had a right to it.
