The Labour Government

And I happen to think they might have some success with that.

I do also, I scrolled on Instagram yesterday and come across a video of Farage standing up and the whole house laughing and heckling- all the comments underneath were ‘look at the disrespect’ , ‘trying to silence him’, ‘they’re all scared of him’ etc

What the video didn’t show was the 10 seconds before where the PM mentioned liars and grifters and the house speaker then called for a question from Farage. If i hadn't of known that then i'd also have though Farage was just being heckled and shouted down for no reason but to speak.

Very cleverly edited and the comments are so obvious right wing bot accounts.

But that’s just one example how social media can totally influence and sway peoples thinking.

Legally you must be in education, although apprenticeships do count. It’s highly unlikely a 16 year old will pay tax albeit it is possible (outside of having their own business or other taxes such as VAT or IHT of course).

Yes. I wasn’t saying it was the norm, it was a response to the idea that none of them pay taxes.

I appreciate that. I used to work in Hackney, alongside plenty of political activists, including people who knew Diane, and that view is not unusual in the slightest. I also wouldn't presume to dismiss, or even discuss, her own experiences, when clearly she's faced abuse, and challenges way beyond anything in my life.

The initial article she replied to, however, was about day to day abuse faced by people from a variety of ethnic groups, and a couple of dismissive paragraphs, was not a nuanced or thoughtful response. Have a look at the hundreds of articles and responses written at the time - even people defending her tended to argue that what she said went too far, and that it was reasonable for her to apologise. The issue yesterday is that she wasn't making a totally separate argument, she clearly linked this to the arguments she made at that time and that's what I found disappointing.
I suspect this was done deliberately, she'll be off to join her old pal Jeremy once she's milked this for all it's worth.

In low politics terms it's a smart move by her.

Of course Starmer has made this all about anti-Semitism.

Folk may not be aware that prior to 1983 Jews were not recognised as an ethnic group in this country. I suspect, though I do not know, that Abbott doesn't see Jews as a distinct ethnic group.

I know people seem to think that the majority of younger voters are more left leaning/liberal, but I don’t think they are as liberal as the previous generation of Millennials as an homogenous group.

Speaking to the latest batch of grads and apprentices we have, certainly Male Gen Z seem much less in agreement about social justice, more conservative and more aligned with the harder capitalist values of Gen X. Probably driven that way by a mixture of social media and a lack of hope, hence reverting to a more competitive rather than collaborative approach.

Female Gen Z on the other hand are more similar to the Millennials in their outlook.

It will certainly be interesting to see how it plays out at the next election. Whichever party is best at pushing a clear and simple message across social media platforms will win the younger voters.

But yep, the flappers are out in force about this. Still, I think what's even funnier about Reform voters is that they all suddenly seem to be in favour of Proportional Representation these days but when they voted Labour and Tory they weren't!
Don't know why. First past the post favours them hugely based on current polling numbers. If those polls were reflected in a GE tomorrow they'd have a thumping big majority with FPTP. Not so with PR.

It's funny to watch the Reform lovers on here moan and flap about the youth having a vote, guess their main hope is filtering social media with racist spam and try and influence them that way.

Those are the same people who argue that 16 and 17 year old are too young to vote as they don't know what they are doing.

Same people

Shamima Begum ( aged 15 at the time ) knew exactly what she was doing

I have to say I feel terribly sorry for her and think she's been treated very badly. Yes she was only a child, and an indoctrinated/radicalised one at that. Shameful of our government IMO to revoke her citizenship and permanently bar her from the UK.

They were banging the PR drum last summer after the General Election where they ended up with millions of votes but only 4 MPs. Maybe they've conveniently changed their minds again due to how well they're curently polling

They should!

Works both ways fella, Labour members were keen on PR, Starmer wanted the power though, looking at his numbers for the GE and now PR would not be good for him.
Politicians in what's best for me shocker, to change it you have to be in, when in why would you change it.. Catch 22.

What's best for the country doesn't figure at the top of the list. If you start from the point they are all grifters at the top life becomes less stressful.

Reform cheerleaders in the media are in a right old flap, some saying youngsters are by their naive nature left leaning, others saying they've all got posters of Farage on their bedroom wall.

One thing is certain, for all their spittle the right wing arse wipes haven't got a clue what this means.

good move - toothless "regulator" - will save £100k pa for starters coz thats what the ceo gets paid

JC and his new party will get my vote.
That’s what we want, a nice split on the left of politics, ensuring the left don’t get in.

And face it, it was only the exact same thing happened on the right, that got Keith into power. The Tories and Reform polled more votes than Labour, but split between them, fucked it right up.

So, Go JC!! Here’s hoping you get 5m to vote for you.

Is that all? A junior doctor can earn more than that. I’d be surprised if he wasn’t on 3 or 4 times that.
