The Labour Government

I suppose it's gone almost unnoticed because things around Russia/Ukraine have been gradually heating up over time, but in the last 24 hours it seems the UK launched 12 cruise (storm shadow) missiles actually into Russia. I'm not debating the rights/wrongs of that (there is a Russia/Ukraine thread for that). What I am wondering is if there should have been some sort of parliamentary recall or debate beforehand? I remember the fiery discussions in parliament before taking action in Iraq and Syria so I wonder why this process was not applicable here?

Interesting point because of it had been the Tories doing it Lammy and other front bench lemmings would be all over Sky News demanding answers in parliament.

Yes, I'm surprised the Tories didn't look to score a cheap point tbh. I realise we've probably already got general parliamentary consensus on 'support for Ukraine', but I think launching strikes actually into Russia might have been worth a quick debate first.

A good point and fair question.

Andrew Marr has brought up the same point on his new statesman podcast.

No doubt GB News will have a dead grannies total on the coverage throughout the winter.
Hope they do report the dead grannies and grandads.
Roughly the new state pension is £11,500 a year £221 a week for anyone born after 1951.

Some pensioners born before 1951 are only on £8,900 a year £170 a week. So I hope the news will focus on people dying from the cold this winter young or old.

A pensioner on £11 thousand won’t be able to claim pension credit, listening to a man who was reporting pensioners where he lived had seven holidays a year and drive round in a Porche Labour and the Tories are very good at making false claims.

Another man said he wished they brought in euthanasia because he can’t pay the fuel bills on his £11 thousand and he’s not entitled to pension credit he filled the form in twice and it was still refused. People will die this winter because they can’t afford to put the heating on it’s wrong.
Many things have been sorted by labour but this will cast a shadow over the next election.

There was cross party agreement for Ukraine but Iraq/Syria was different we are sending our own lads into Iraq boots on the ground makes a world of difference so it should.
