I must admit I've never seen so many Labour supporters and so called socialists change to standard tories so quickly.

You may have noticed mate, I am a Socialist, and I have barely said a good word about Keith since he became leader of the new labour renewal party of centrist neo-liberal stupidity.

I have no great hopes for Labour, I hope they prove me wrong but I cannot see it happening, there will be some sops to the working class but they will kow tow to the capitalist class first and foremost.

The less that Labour do, the more influence the nutters from Reform will have and that should scare people

To be fair, they're not going to get anything done if Starmer fucks off ASAP as you wished in a previous post!

The trouble is Russ, we're never going to get a government whose politics align totally with yours and I'm sure you know this. However, IMO, this current Labour government is our best available option all things considered. Sure, they ain't perfect - far from it - but following in the footsteps of who was in before them gives me a bit of hope that things will improve.

I do hope I'm wrong, but rumours are rife (FT, Times, Telegraph) that Labour are going to nuke small family firms with inheritance tax (currently exempt).
Please no, that would be a fucking disaster as many would have to be sold to pay a HMRC tax bill. Those that aren't sold would have to cut back on investment to pay the tax - the only area of UK business with sufficient investment in the future of the business.

Each generation is more wealthy than the previous. And each generation says it has failed to do so. I think most people would be prepared to pay more tax if it meant better public services. I agree it has been the direct opposite under the Tories and they had to go. Do I trust Labour to improve public services? Not in a million years. They will piss it away like all of them do. There is nothing wrong in inheriting wealth and never has been. The capitalist system is far from perfect but it is far better than socialism or anything similar. The next five years will prove that unequivocally…

Collectively it may be but the disparity in distribution grows too. That and the state has shrunk too. Every now and again, the world does a reset which is normally a war, which we haven’t had in a long time.

Well it has to be something and if it's not what I say it is then they need to find out why and stop us becoming a magnet.
We look after people that don't pay into the system too much in my opinion, much better than people who work hard.
But immigration hasn't been controlled for years, successive goverments just never control it.
