The Labour Government

Unless it's splashed across the red tops front pages a press release is useless.
You’re right, but if this is now making the news, the red tops and media outlets will want them on and that is where they have to be robust.

Like I said, regardless of who you vote for, this is an attack on our democracy.

As the right wing hypocrites say ‘we won they lost! Get over it!’ Absolutely they only want democracy when it suits!

But surely this now has to be countered by governments, using security protocols, and putting out their own press releases to counter the likes of RW media, new and old, spreading all sorts of mis/disinformation?

What ever you colour of politics, Tory, Labour, LD, or Reform, surely we must not let foreign entities take over our country?

We have a Royal Family descended from the Germans and Greece

We have a patron Saint who was Syrian and never set foot in the Country

We had an American born Prime Minister

We have an MP who campaigns against immigration .... but holds a German Passport

They've already taken over .....

Another good move for society, will go totally unnoticed of course.

Labour is understood to be poised to rubber-stamp the previous government’s proposal to do away with a voluntary system that allows industry operators to choose how much to donate to tackle damage caused by gambling and which organisations should receive the money.

Purple is very much the new blue.

You and a few others have gone colour blind is all ;-)

So we're swapping voluntary donations (from the gambling industry) of £49.5 million for a compulsory levy of £100 million in year one

Sounds like a good plan to me (unlike the previous plan of relying on voluntary donations from a crooked industry) ... no wonder it was rubber stamped

That is a proper RW/Twitter take, could’ve been straight off GBNews.

Basically, they’ve realised that self-governance doesn’t work and are now making it mandatory.

But, you knew that, right?

In fairness, the previous government had this in their 2019 manifesto but then failed to implement it across the entire life of that parliament, with multiple delays for a variety of reasons mostly self inflicted. The last few conservative governments were legislatively inept and insufficiently focused on actually running the country.

There is still a lot to be done in this space but if Labour do pass this and get it implemented by April then they deserve credit for getting the ball rolling in a way the last government never got close to managing.

Or maybe there were too many Tory MPs taking freebies from the gambling industry to get it through before.

You keep saying Labour are morphing into the Tory Party. I'm surprised you're not loving that?
