The Labour Government

So those developments just appear do they? Nobody is employed and pays tax and spends money to construct them? Materials to construct them are donated by charities not bought by companies that pay corporation taxes?
Where's the money coming from? The IMF will come knocking soon with these cretins in charge.

Aww, poor golf club. Why don't they put the fees up 50p for everyone? Or even better, pay the tax out of their profits.
Most private members golf clubs are non profit organisations and many are struggling to stay open. My fees have risen more than 15% in the past two years, any surplus cash is always re-invested in the Club. You may think it’s just a game but for some people, especially the Seniors who have lost life partners it’s their world, it’s good for mental health as well as the benefits of walking 4 miles two or three times a week.

The drop was forecasted and our markets remain more stable than some of our EU neighbours.

US tariffs and changes to Stamp Duty provide the majority of the drop, and the uncertainty in business wrt NI increases may have a longer term effect.

Forecasts haven’t changed with a prediction of still low growth between 1 and 1.5% for the foreseeable. Although, it does look more likely that the BoE will reduce interest rates in the next couple of quarters.

What I will say is how have we got to point that people hit the roof on a monthly basis? Whether up or down, the way this stuff is reported, and talked about, seems to be taken out of all context, pitting people against each other.

How do you know they're not?
I’m not the one suggesting they pay the NIC rise out of their profits, so I don’t actually need to know.

It’s a common fallacy of the left that governments can continue to squeeze businesses, ad infinitum, without a reaction. And that households are somehow removed and insulated from any negative fallout across businesses.

It’s the same weak minded nonsense that leads people like Rachel Reeves to claim that the NIC increase isn’t a tax on working people, when many thousands of people will actually lose their jobs because of it.

Socialists see it as an elitist sport, we should all be playing darts in the labour club taproom according to them.
Keeps you fit, teaches you life lessons and is a great environment to make friends.

Darts keeps you fit?
I’ll give it a go.

Hahaha. What fucking 'life lessons' do you learn playing golf?
How much is a round of golf?
How much is a game of darts?

My comment was based on a couple of mates who play regularly at a couple of clubs. But if interest is going up nationally that is good news. I hope to start playing again when I retire.

It boomed during the pandemic and stayed at those levels. You’re right about clubs struggling still though, membership prices in general have gone up a fair bit.

I took it up again about five years ago as my kids were old enough they didn’t want to spend time with us at the weekends anymore!

Just checked the UK national debt clock and it's currently ticking over at £5170 per second. These numbers are insane and a big wake-up call must surely be close.

Wentworth Golf Club, Surrey.

Joining fee approx 175k.
Annual membership 16k (2015 price).

How dare anyone imply golf is an elitist sport! We could all easily afford that. Next you'll be telling me the Tunnel Club is expensive.
Most golf club members will pay between £1000 to £1500 per year with no joining fee which is in the scope of most working people. Compare that to the cost of following City.
Your post was pathetic.
