The Labour Government

No thanks, It's part of our history and we are still paying the price.
maybe if you and the other remainers hadn't blocked it or tried to overturn the vote at every opportunity and accepted the democratic vote at the outset we may have actually got the Brexit that was voted for and not the watered down waste of time we have.

Actually trying to discuss or debate any point with the left wing snowflakes on here is pretty pointless.
What makes you think I'm a left wing snowflake? Just because I might be to the left of you doesn't make me left wing, and I don't consider myself a snowflake either. In fact, I'd argue that there are plenty of snowflakes on the right these days.

If that's the best attempt at an answer you can come up with then instead of stopping 16 and 17 year olds from voting, we should stop clowns like you from voting instead

To be honest it doesn't look as if we are paying the price financially, simply because our economy has been out performing similar developed economies of countries that are in the EU.

No objections from me to lowering the voting rights to 16, it may actually engage more young people in politics when the majority are disenfranchised.

What is concerning is the Government's plan to remove the requirement for photo voter ID, and allow people to present a bank card as ID proof. Clearly this is a bad idea.

What was the Brexit you voted for have looked like ?

What Brexit did you specifically vote for by the way? Come on - let's have a summary of the Brexit you voted for, because all I could see on the ballot paper was a straightforward yes or no.

Take your time Einstein......

And when you thought the bellend that is Starmer couldn't get any worse he's now giving the vote to 16 year olds

Personally I’d argue if you’re able to be taxed by the government if you work then you should be able to have a say in who that government should be.

The option were

1) Remain a member of the European Union

2) Leave the European Union

there was no leave but with loads of conditions, it was leave full stop. Lock stock and barrel.

There’s plenty of other cohorts of people who should be less entitled to vote than 16/17 year olds. Whilst teenagers may not have life experience, many of those that should know better are gullible enough to vote for whoever the Daily Mail or Facebook tell them to.

Maybe there should be some sort of intelligence test to see if potential voters have the mental capacity to think things through.

Basing your voting intentions entirely on the number of rubber dinghies that land on the south coast is a perfect example of someone who is too stupid to vote.

If you think the choice was as simple as what it said on the ballot paper then it's you that's totally deluded. There isn't just one type of Brexit. There are shit loads. Even your frog-faced twat of a mate Farage was advocating a Norway-type deal at one point. And regardless of "conditions", we've still left the European Union

For me, 16 years old is a bit too young to vote but you can start full time work at 16 so I think it is probably fair. I very much doubt that 16 year olds will vote for Labour or the Tories so probably good news for the Greens and possibly even Reform.

I'd imagine Corbyns crew will be the biggest winners in this, surely?

So people who are basically not yet mature and have contributed no taxes to the country are going to be allowed to vote?

I for one think it it barking mad.
What age would you class as mature then? The current legal voting age is 18 but I'm sure there are plenty of 18 year olds who haven't contributed taxes to the country. There are people who are much older than that who haven't either

Not....really...

For one thing it wasn't legally binding in law or anything, it was an opinion poll. It was up to the Government of the day to;-

A) Act upon it or ignore the result entirely (but that would open the door for eurosceptic MPs to likely win a swathe of seats in Parliament.)
B) Decide how they wanted to have continued relations with the EU afterwards; either 100% leave, or leaving with some associations, as per agreement.

I, for one, would have liked to have seen our Government negotiate for continued access to the Single Market to continue tarriff free trade, continued Freedom of Movement of Labour (because we have never had the full "freedom of movement" as we were never in the Schengen agreement) an end to the Customs Union (which prevented the UK doing independent deals with other nations free of EU restrictions and interference, the India Deal and our joining of CPTPP as examples) and an end to our EU budget contributions on the scale that it was.

This was all possible, the EU themselves even outlined examples as to how such a relationship could be achieved, but the moment Teresa May came up with the 'Brexit Means Brexit' nonsense and the Remainers collectively lost their civilised minds as a result, there was only one way it was going to go.

Note: The only real rubber stamp for the 'Brexit' we have was giving Boris Johnson's Conservative Government and Cabinet a majority in the HoP, which he got in 2019. He got 'his' version of 'brexit' done.
