Be lowering the age of consent next
Getting mixed up with Trump thread ?
Be lowering the age of consent next
It’s only lost if the person agrees to itA job lost is a job lost.... know what that means? No vacancy, no replacement.... still our economy is strong enough to absorb all that.
It is no more than a shameless attempt to manipulate the next election. They know that most kids at that age naturally rail at what they see as the injustices of the world around them and attach themselves to politicians and political parties that reflect that. When I was that age I was the same, Labour, Socialist worker, anti-nazi league all of it. What I did not understand was human characteristics, our nature and how our behaviours are shaped by self interest. How could I ? at that age you have not experienced life. It is the same all over, most start left and move right as you get older. And when you thought the bellend that is Starmer couldn't get any worse he's now giving the vote to 16 year olds.
67 rising when the retirement age does :)What do you reckon? 70/80ish?
At 16 you are able to work and pay taxes though.

There may have been an argument for this when most kids of 16 were working but certainly not now when most are literally still school kids . It seems to me they enjoy an extended childhood these days, I do not see that they are more mature in any way.
Should we be surprised ? , not really, this is the party that opened the doors to mass migration in part because they believed they would swell their constituency with grateful migrants . Truly without shame or principle.
The only consolation is that like everything they touch at the moment it will backfire. I think this give momentum to the Greens and Jezbollah and split the Labour vote further. Serves them right.
For me, 16 years old is a bit too young to vote but you can start full time work at 16 so I think it is probably fair. I very much doubt that 16 year olds will vote for Labour or the Tories so probably good news for the Greens and possibly even Reform.
Do you know what voluntary means?
Why couldn’t Boris and Co do this the last few years ?
A propar PM working with Europe on national interest and to secure our borders - No wonder Reform voters are panicking.
The prime minister says the treaty includes e-gate access for frequent business travellers to Germany, and plans for a direct rail link.
"We're also working together on illegal migration," Starmer adds. "It's a clear sign that we mean business - we are coming after the illegal gangs in every way that we can."
You can join the army at 16, and salaries are above £14k.
The average full time earnings in 2024 (so they'll have gone up since), for 16/17 year olds was £331 per week, which is over £17k a year. As you say many will be well below that level, so clearly, to bring the average up, there are plenty of 16/17 year olds earning well above that figure.
Even if you're restricting yourself to 16 year olds, it would take a huge jump from 16 to 17 for those averages to not include plenty of 16 year olds.
Starmer made a point which I am sure almost all our media won't report. German law prevented boat parts from being moved on at the request of the UK - because we are NOT a member state. Another huge Brexit win...... not. The Chancellor will change the law so it can be stopped but you can be the reasons why it has to be done will be too hot to touch.
What Brexiters can't grasp is if we make laws they stop at our borders. We don't rule other countries - we can make crossings illegal but its against international law - we can't send anyone back because the country of origin may not want them and we have no way of legally doing so. Farage needs migrants - any term in Govt by Reform Ltd will just be 5 years of dismantling things and blaming everything on the EU rather than talking to the EU.
Yep! How on earth do Reform voters expect Farage to deal with this without a strong a relationship with Europe ? They just can’t get it in their heads.
I suspect Reform will do well out of the change as well. In my lifetime society has never appeared so split as it is today.
Social media this biggest reason.
Do you not understand how businesses reorganization works? If the job is no longer needed in the new business structure it will go. The person may well decide to take another job and there may be protections if the job is of lower wage. BUT the job has gone and headcount will be reduced hence.... Jobs are cut! It’s only lost if the person agrees to it
75 will do itWhat do you reckon? 70/80ish?
You're wasting your time mate, the snowflakes just won't grasp it.Do you not understand how businesses reorganization works? If the job is no longer needed in the new business structure it will go.
