The Labour Government

It’s a bloody sad state of affairs and very unsettling for a lot of staff.

Trusts have to balance the books and are £7bn over budget and have been told to reduce the corporate functions. 3 of our local trusts, including the one Mrs MB works in, now have one CEO, but they need time to create one HR team, one facility team, etc etc. They need a HR department so can’t really lay them off but they can still function with a few less nurses.

Hope all goes well for you in your “reorganisation”. Stressful times.

I'll be first in the queue if the terms are right. If not, I'll look at moving on in the new year anyway... I've well and truly had enough.

Can you share why she is having the whip removed?
I understand she basically went back on the apology she gave just before the election where she complained that black people were suffering worse racism than travellers and gingers... google it if you want more detail.

Needless to say she has had the whip removed and caused Keir yer more embarrassment.

I knew why and see the removal as being justified. Not sure it causes any embarrassment for Starmer though, why would it?

They stop being 16 on their birthday, the vast majority leaving school will be 16, some nearly 17. My point being 16 year olds won’t likely pay tax, 17 year olds on the other hand will be more likely to.

Like you I don’t really care much about the tax argument. Lowering voting to 17 would be more sensible in my opinion, mostly because I have concerns about how it may distract them during their GCSE’s etc but it’s a fairly moot point.

Why ask if you knew...? strange.

Have you never heard of cabinet responsibility and party unity (especially among senior members)?... looks bad after four others were suspended for standing up what they believed in and were elected on.... don't you think?

100% on Diane this one, and she knows exactly what she's doing.

Given the initial apology was based on a claim that it was a 'draft' that didn't represent her views, it's actually pretty sad that she's gone fully back on it.

I agree with her.

She is 71, perhaps she needs to retire and let a younger person take the reigns. Perhaps all MPs should retire at retirement age.

I agree with her.

But that's not what she said originally. Saying that there are differences isn't suggesting a hierarchy, or diminishing other people's experiences. The interview this week, says she was asked about her initial letter, and if she regretted the incident. Her reply, "No, not at alll". The bit you're quoting is just part of what she has said - but the other quotes suggest she is doubling down on the original argument.

That letter didn't simply say that racism affected different groups in different ways, it said that Irish, Jewish and Travellers didn't face racism, they faced 'prejudice', which was different. And she then said that people with red hair also faced prejudice, further diminishing the experiences of those groups.
