I was never going to be his biggest fan but I am genuinely surprised at how poor he has been. In opposition he appeared bland and uninspiring but at least seemed honest and competent. In government he remains bland and uninspiring but his image of honesty and competence has been shredded in a year. If that weren't bad enough he has lost control of the parliamentary party ( despite a huge majority ) to the extent where he couldn't even get through small savings in the Welfare budget that were crucial to Reeves and her credibility and a new Left wing party has emerged will take a good number of his MP's and spit his vote at the next election.
For the most part he looks ok on foreign policy but that really is about it. To be fair to him, I think he is hard working , in that respect at least that makes him an improvement on the idle chancer Johnson, I think he does genuinely care ( in his misguided way) which in that respect makes him an improvement on Cameron.Truss doesn't count, I don't think he is an upgrade on Sunak.
I know we are only a year in but I think the die is cast, as he was told today and as I have said previously the next election will be won on immigration first and the economy second. He is done for on both already , the majority of the public know that and have already made up their minds that he needs to go and take his abysmal government with him. The frustration is that he has four more years , they are going to be excruciating.
That is a dreadful indictment of his premiership - in one year he had drained the hope of the electorate and the parliamentary Labour Party and left us with a shell of a government for four more years.
