I agree entirely, particularly the point on QE.Don’t forget the expansion of in work benefits , removing aspiration and initiative and trapping millions in low paid work and holding down real wages - all done with the best intentions of course.
Whilst trapping people in low paid work at one end he then went on to socialise the cost of the banking crisis through QE - inflating the price of assets and massively increasing the wealth of those that held them.
He has done more for wealth disparity than any chancellor I remember.

Dear Prudence......I think Brown was competent but only at implementing flawed ideology. He thought it was a good idea to raise as much tax as possible so the state could give it back to people again in benefits. Thereby introducing hundreds of stealth taxes and other tax rises and a huge increase in the size of the state.
A really stupid thing to do, but at least he could do the sums, even if they were in the wrong column.

I'm also sure that the likes of Edinburgh, Durham, Royal Holloway will be delighted to be regarded as second rate universities as the PSA approaches its' 75th anniversary. An estimate I read is that it cost the average private pension holder around 4%. So on your estimate that would mean most private pensions having a value of £350000+.
