The Labour Government

Ok I’m now wondering why are you commenting on this topic? As you clearly don’t even have a grasp of the most basic things around it. There is not a trust for her, it’s for her son ffs!

She doesn’t need a right to visit the property or even live there most of the time if she chooses, it’s her sons, why would she?! She also quite obviously wouldn’t want to have that as having a beneficial interest in the house would completely negate the point to putting it into trust in the first place.

You’re completely misunderstanding all of it.

You have much patience:-)

Ha! I don’t have a problem with people posting whatever opinion they want about anything. When people post incorrect facts though and then try to double down on it, it really annoys me!

It’s not just that they don’t hold their hands up and just say “ok I don’t understand this”, it’s someone else might read it and think they’re saying something that’s correct and then there’s even more stupid people walking around than just the person posting!

People who are ‘into’ politics are an odd bunch.
I can never get my head round how they have a party and its their party for life! Weird
Agreed on the last bit. I am undecided whether I will vote Reform, Advance UK or Tory at the next GE. Having supported conservative principles all my life, I've nevertheless slagged the Tories off on many ocassions. I know a shit show when I see one, and boy oh boy are we seeing one right now. David Lammy. I can't stop laughing.

Thats why they all have a gaff in london yeah? They get an allowance to rent a house in london

when was she planning in spending time in her constituency? To spend time with the very people who voted her in?
If shes not in london, is She in brighton? Or ashton?

Your defence of her is a little creepy
If you want to go after the MPs who claim allowances even though they own places near London....

Rayner will now have to vacate the grace and favour flat, so might be making the late night commute to Brighton more than she does.

In any case, the Brighton flat is still the only property she actually owns and it was never her primary residence for any purpose which is why she pays double council tax on it.

I'm only defending against nonsense.

Glad it’s not just me seeing how stupid he is. Thought for a second he knew something we didn’t but in reality he’s fucking clueless. Whether he’s deliberately misinterpreting the guidance or is just thick is anyone’s guess. At least he’s enjoying himself.

No-one with a brain is buying that BS pal. I even showed you the HMRC guidance which proved that your statement saying unoquivocally that she was only caught out because of the age or her child, was wrong. Just plain wrong. That you cannot admit it, says a lot.

I think he’s reading it and not realising there’s a difference between a legal document or a trust giving someone a right to live somewhere vs someone’s able to live anywhere they like if the person lets them and the latter means fuck all when it comes to ownership or beneficial interest.

Under his interpretation, if my son turns 18 and stays at home for ten years and then buys a house, he’ll have to pay stamp duty as well as getting a beneficial interest in my house as he’s been able to live there for ten years. That’s how stupid his interpretation is.

She’s been a bit dumb not checking knowing how she is hated but ….
Hunt avoids £100k of Stamp Duty
Sunak wife 'non dom' status
Zahawi underpays millions in tax and pays a fine
Mone PPE - no resolution over millions

Rayner - given wrong advice over £40k of Stamp Duty - loses everything

Well hopefully if they have a brain, they’ll be consulting an expert anyway if they have to deal with it at some point themselves rather than looking on here at your posts…

Had to google Advance UK.
So you’ll vote for the Tories, Reform or Reform on steroids - a party that advocates Trussonomics.
No wonder no one takes you seriously.

Totally irrelevant.

I only question your use of the word 'little'

At least she had the decency to fall on her sword (unlike Hunt , Johnson . Zahawi , Sunak et al )

Spot the difference ?

Had she resigned immediately you would have had a point.

She didn’t. She spent the last 48 hours as well as several months hiding behind a gagging order, desperately spinning a story for the media for sympathy and hoping she would somehow cling on.

She resigned today knowing a Starmer was going to sack her.

You know that deep down so don’t do it to yourself.

It’s the hope that will kill you ;-)

Angela's real crime was to be a down-to-earth northerner who left school as a single mum, lived in a council house on an estate, worked in a low pay job for the council and had the outright cheek to rise to the highest ranks of government, talking to Oxbridge types with a northern bluntness and commoner's accent.

Giving hope to all who didn't have the silver spoon.

There are no conservative principles. ‘Conservative principles’ are an oxymoron.

She was given perfectly specific advice. She chose to ignore it. She then said she acted in accordance with the legal advice. She was telling porkies and had to resign because she broke the ministerial code over the issue.
It's very straightforward really.

Would she still have been Deputy PM if she’d paid the right stamp duty?
