Are you a pensioner, low paid worker, renter, have kids that need child care, got a mortgage. If the answer to any of those is "yes", then your life is probably better.
The biggest problem is the perception that somebody on £100k is wealthy when it just isn't true. Of course somebody on £100k is wealthy compared to somebody on £30k but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't take much to put you in the bracket of a high earner. Somebody on £60k will be in the top 20%, it's because the richest aren't earning a salary.

This is like winding the clock back FFS. Your bills are up mainly because of world factors, not direct government policy. Last year the state pension went up 8.5% and another 4.1% this year. Yes, the WFA went (badly done) but has now been reinstated ( which you omitted to admit as it undermines your case).

You're a bit out of touch. A Consultant 1st year starting salary is just under 110k per annum. That's the basic. Many also receive out of hours supplements, distinction awards, clinical excellence awards, extra programmed activity payments. Basic salaries for 14+ years of seniority are now over 145k per annum. I reckon most Consultants retiring now will be on closer to 200k.
The response was in relation to the glib insinuation that people in the top 1% dont work for their money. There inevitably will be people in the top 1% who just live off assets obtained from inherited wealth, but there will be a sizeable number who have built businesses from nothing, risking everything or who are in senior roles within business after working their way up. The top 0.1% however are a very different kettle of fish.

You partly misunderstood what I meant, I agree with the above but the top 1% will generally be earning something for sitting around doing nothing, pension pot, savings, house value, assets. It would be unusual tbh not to. Im not sure one can claim investment profit is earnt. The original.capital may well be.
Poor start to that post and just got worse. It's people on £100k who will be leaving generational wealth. 20% of MPs went to Oxbridge. Why would having a degree mean you've inherited money? And pensioners were "hit" with losing £4 a week WFA while getting £45 a week pension increase in two years.
I wasn't having a go at any political party as such, just any "Government" really. There's lots of crap that is handed over to each and every successive Government when they take power. It was more that I was saying that the Government in power at that time ultimately takes responsibility. There was no intended blame, more the actual pointing of responsibility for any incident at a particular point in time. Whether there is a history behind the reasons for the error, and who is responsible ,is another conversation.
