Agree.

It's the sub £500m amounts though that are of most concern for corruption.

Some councils in particular have quite a bit to answer for as to where they have spent their allocated money.

It’s possible to make a case for the government to have its hand in pretty much most things, it doesn’t mean they should. Nor does it mean they never should, for example after WW2 or the financial crisis it made sense to nationalise certain things for a while.

It's an area that politicians don't want to go near because it's such an unpopular topic, but there needs to be changes

And before anyone calls me a nasty selfish twat, there is a close relative of mine who has taken very easy street along with his partner and her father all claiming when there is fuck all wrong with any of them and somehow they all claim carers allowance for each other

Didn't someone post on here the other week that there are more people claiming than paying in at the moment!

Dont think its a case of decent or not, why they cant just say we dont have a pot to piss in so unfortunately we are going to have to up the tax paid by teachers, doctors, train drivers and anyone else who might pay the higher rate of tax, is beyond me. All this working people/wage is just meaningless and just serves to wind up those who obviously are working people but earn over the 40% tax threshold.

They fucked up by promising no tax raises for 'working people'

People voted for them what can I say?

Politicians will spend plenty of their spare time with rich folks and the gentry, whose gonna get shafted their party guests or the oinks.

If Labour aren't gonna try and make it all a bit fairer by making the elite pay their fair share then seriously what's the point.

I think that was that when you add in education, health care, and other "benefits" funded by taxes, most people are net beneficiaries of the system (i.e. most get more value than they pay in taxes) while only a minority pay more tax than they get out of the system.

I would want a completely detailed, no nonsense breakdown to the last penny of where the money is going and who it's going to, and not shadowed by clever names and titles.

All on a dedicated website, with graphs, all in layman's terms for the public to see and how to read it should be compulsory education in school.

Alongside this, every MP should have a detailed breakdown of his or hers income to the last penny that they earn outside of politics, showing where and whom has paid them that money, including their own business endeavours. This might be seen as intrusive by some, but I believe when you become subservient to a countries electorate, these details matter for the elimination of corruption and possible treason.

You have politicians clearly gaining massive advantage in the stock market via possible insider trading and huge contracts being put on offer via corporation lobbying. This should not be allowed in any democratic system in my opinion.

If im honest most of the mechanisms he talked about went over my head but for some time ive felt we needed some bravery and a more radical approach. People gave a sigh of relief when the Tories got booted and so did I.
We seem to be in this spiral of tax increase and borrowing which dampens people's spending with the added pain of inflation and highish interest rates. We need to break the cycle, get some consumer confidence and invest. We need to be bold.
Economically they are just too close to the Tories austerity plans.
The bits and bobs they have done will hardly be felt by the masses.

Answers on a postcard chaps.

When I was in the fire service we had to get permission to do a second job, if it interferes with you’re main job (like turning up knackered because you’d not slept between nights) then they could withdraw permission (never saw it done), MPs should have similar, how can you be a director of a company if decisions and influence you have could be affected?
