I'll tell you what theft is. Deca millionaires and billionairs taking money for goods and services from people that can barely afford them, making huge profits from those barely affordable payments, and paying themselves huge salaries and bonuses to enrich themselves to such a degree they have absolutely no use for all the money they have amassed. Back street money lenders operate like that. It's like collecting stamps to them, money for money's sake, and for the life of me I can't understand why you want to protect that position when it will come and bite you in the arse at some point in the future.

What is immoral is the way they have conditioned the ordinary person into accepting taxing them is wrong. It isn't.

In the years wealth was taxed, we had social programmes that worked, food banks didn't exist, ordinary people enjoyed having an increasing standard of living, and the wealthy weren't penalised to the extent you may imagine.

If you don't believe they should be taxed in a fair way, then say hello to increasing struggles in your life.

They really don't care about you, but appreciate your support.

Imagine a world where nearly 8 billion people toil for a lifetime to make a few hundred million live in the lap of luxury! When they say they’ll fuck off from our country if we tax them well I’ll pack their bags, would we be poorer in the short term, possibly, but we would survive let them all sit in Dubai, I guarantee these westerners won’t want to stay in the Middle East forever.

I know everyone won't use it 5 days/week 52 weeks a year but when broken down like that it's not too bad. I wouldn't like to have to pay it though.

sorry over £330 a week to get to work and back is shocking imho. We will have to disagree on this one.

Because a Crewe to London annual season with Avanti is £16k, your figure. I'd have quoted from Manchester but that was £20k.

Bristol-London (two thirds the distance of Crewe-London) is not such good value.

I'm not sure how it was political except for privatisation. BR's policy in the 70s was "charging what the market will bear".

If she does nothing else a commitiment to keep the state pension tax free should be a priority. It's easy to do as they already know what the pension will be from April so the new tax threshold becomes pension + £1. But it also probably needs some work on the triple lock or else everyone's lower tax threshold would be dependant on that. But they could start the process tomorrow.

Budget predictions.

Probably a million miles from what will happen but here goes.

VAT abolished on petrol. However petrol duty to be increased in line with what is currently is paid in VAT . In addition the 5p freeze on petrol duty to be removed.

Booze. Reduction in booze duty for drinks bought in pubs and restaurants. Increase in duty for booze bought in supermarkets. This will be done under the banner of protecting jobs in the hospitality industry.

Home deliveries. A levy to be charged on home delivery of food and parcels ( Deliveroo and Amazon etc) . This will be done to try and help the high street fight back and ensure these companies pay their way for the added congestion they cause.

An indication that a mileage charge will be levied on EVs . The government has seen reduced income from petrol duty.

Just a guess for fun.

Home deliveries help reduce congestion surely? Time moves on why should they try to bail out the high street it's not going to change consumer habits.

I don't for one minute criticise your action, but it must be seen in context, and I had the same view as you when I was younger. The fact is you're not "giving it away", you're contributing to the services that you/we all use, but as you allude to, you're one of those that isn't really prepared to pay for those services.

Her initial ideas about these funds needing to invest in UK was better idea for growth. Whatever happened to that?

By car you're looking about half the cost in fuel, we are supposed to be getting people to use public transport. I can't see how anyone cannot believe a lot of train journeys cost way too much, us brits really will put up with any old shite, the debate has run it's course though.
I believe we should cycle or move to Crewe, fucking Crewe:-)
